diggerjames 543 #158 Posted January 5, 2016 Got yer should work well I hope so I'm gonna try the chain as is if it breaks I'll use a duplex but I'm sure it will be ok
diggerjames 543 #159 Posted January 6, 2016 A bit more progress today guys I've fastend the 4x4 drive chain up to the rear axle here is what I have done so far
Stormin 4,458 #160 Posted January 6, 2016 If that rear axle swivels, James, won't the chain catch the front axle, when the left hand wheel drops? Maybe the idler sprocket should be further forward? Or is the rear down as far as it will go in the photo?
meadowfield 1,900 #161 Posted January 6, 2016 nice work, as long as the chain doesn't go too tight not an issue it is touches the axle really. My chain on bendy has stretched and now the axle is the idler
Stormin 4,458 #162 Posted January 6, 2016 If it does touch, I'd be inclined to fit a wear pad to stop it wearing a groove in the axle. 1 diggerjames reacted to this
diggerjames 543 #163 Posted January 6, 2016 I may end up putting a spring loaded tensioner on to compensate for this I'm hoping to sort a bit more in it tomorrow
meadowfield 1,900 #164 Posted January 6, 2016 You may end up with the tensioner fixed and on the low side. On C4 when I reverse the chain can skip!
diggerjames 543 #165 Posted January 6, 2016 I had that earlier mark when I was testing it !

diggerjames 543 #167 Posted January 7, 2016 Hi all quick update I've had a bit of a play today I've got the kubota running which started very well and I have tested the rear 4x4 drive chain here is a quick video https://youtu.be/HJv0xQZGPtI 2 Stormin and nigel reacted to this

diggerjames 543 #170 Posted January 9, 2016 Hi all been busy on the tractor I thought to my self before I go any further on the project I would test drive it and test the articulation with the chain on etc bearing in mind I don't want it to twist to far and let the chain slip so I've tested it on a ramp and took a few measurements on the angle and I'm quite pleased with the results of the first test !http://youtu.be/Ru7qvO6TIyA After that test I've decided to take the rear load body off and make a new fuel tank which I have made out of a big old ransomes mower diesel tank it was to big so I cut it in half and welded it back together again here is what I have done so far Now that the tank is nearly done I have not got to think about the bonnet and steering console etc because the kubota. Engine is a big lump it sticks proud of the original alignment of the bonnet so I have lifted the bonnet 3 inches on the bonnet and and 2 inches at the moment on the console. I put longer bolts in the con sole with nuts on under the console so I can make adjustments so I no my exact size I need to make the plates etc 7 Ian, nigel, meadowfield and 4 others reacted to this

C-101plowerpower 548 #173 Posted January 9, 2016 whats the reason that the back wheels are narrower james i think because they aren't wheel horse wheels and have a different backspacing 2 nigel and diggerjames reacted to this
