diggerjames 543 #176 Posted January 9, 2016 whats the reason that the back wheels are narrower jamesthy was the only wheels I had but I'm gonna put bigger wheels on and a spacer plate to bring out or swap boxes for an 8 speedi think because they aren't wheel horse wheels and have a different backspacing exactly Koen It's a short frame box too, I think it's a commando 8 one from Ian... They are narrower track. it's the very Same mark cheers mr haulage man 1 nigel reacted to this
diggerjames 543 #177 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi all just a quick update since I put the new big kubota engine on it has put a bit of extra weight on the front end so this has made the steering heavier so I've decided to have a bash at power steering I've got all the necessary parts and I have seen this done two ways one way is to have a hydraulic ram running parrarell to the axle linking in to to one stub axle , or the other way which I'm gonna try out is the ram running at the side of the chassis , here is what I've done so far Fitting the orbital steer unit Lining up with the steering wheel The fist draft of the track rod end and ram adapter bracket 3 nigel, Ian and the showman reacted to this

diggerjames 543 #187 Posted January 15, 2016 Evening all another quick update been playing with the power steering on the tractor what a pig of a job I have finally made some progress with it it now steers with no issues to the left and to right , I have had to move the ram to underneath the tractor which runs parallel to the front axle , I have had to do this because I wasn't getting enough lock , I may even change this idea yet , I have rigged a temporary power steering tank up at the side of the engine to test this is not a pemsnrnt fixture here is a quick video 2 Ian and nigel reacted to this

diggerjames 543 #194 Posted January 16, 2016 Evening all another quick update , I've finally got the steering to as near as perfect as I can get it and u can steer it with one finger I haven got as much lock as the original tractor but not far off , I may still be able to obtain this with a few adjustments , I had a little drive on the tractor today in the work shop and every thing worked great so now I'm back to the fabrication part, because I'm thinking of putting a winch on the tractor I'm gonna put two 6volt batteries on wired in series to get my 12 volts I'm doing this for several reasons these batteries are very heavy so will act as good ballast , plenty of power and I have access to plenty of these batteries they have come out of a standby battery backup system they was 50 or so wired together to get mains voltage ,any way with me using two of these , I've made a battery Tray to mount them in under the seat ! Here's what I've done today 5 Vinnetrow, nigel, pmackellow and 2 others reacted to this

diggerjames 543 #199 Posted January 19, 2016 Hi all had another full day on the project , I've finally finished the new power steering tank that has took a lot of fabrication , I am trying to make everything as compact as possible so I have squeezed it in between the engine and the steering unit . I have also started the wiring so I can start easier with out jump leads I have also fitted an alternator , I'm in decided yet weather that's its final resting place or weather I shall move it nearer the engine bay which will be difficult but I am going to see , the alternator in its present location sticks out of the bonnet slightly but is in line with the hydraulic pump , 4 Stormin, Ian, nigel and 1 other reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #200 Posted January 19, 2016 Thats a lot of kit to squeeze under the bonnet but will look better when painted
