expeatfarmer 591 #1 Posted October 23, 2015 Does anyone have a skimming tractor chassis i.d plate ? Or a tractor with one on, my machine has a plate but the centre section is obliterated there are some numbers above the serial number 1311 that look like "750/ 1927 "but I cannot see what they are. A photo of a clear plate would help to get some new ones made.
Chris 642 #2 Posted October 23, 2015 Is that off the latest find Jon??
expeatfarmer 591 #3 Posted October 23, 2015 Yes turns out it is consecutive number to the one I found in Blandford both ex Bristol water Board. Engine was also bought in Bristol .

expeatfarmer 591 #5 Posted October 25, 2015 Does anyone know if the modified skimmer up in Scotland has clear i.d. plates and is the machine still around?

Rocboni 257 #8 Posted October 25, 2015 I don't think it was a skimmer, apparently did have a ITC ID plate though. Rolloman sold got it sold if I remember rightly.
expeatfarmer 591 #9 Posted October 25, 2015 You are right it is an ITC. I thought there was another one some time ago.
Rocboni 257 #10 Posted October 25, 2015 Never heard of one in Scotland but as there was dumpers and a number of Scottish water board spares turn up in Banchory a while ago I would think it was possible.
expeatfarmer 591 #11 Posted November 18, 2015 Chris at Vintage Brass Plates now has the originals of the i.d. plates off both skimmers and 137, he has identified that the numbers of the sand skimming tractors are 310 and 311 not 1311 as I thought. This means that either Ransomes started a new numbering sequence for the sand skimming tractors or the bloke that stamped them was half asleep and forgot the first 1!!! Whilst I suspect it may be the latter scenario I will stick with what I have and use 310 and 311 even if only as a discussion point.
expeatfarmer 591 #12 Posted November 19, 2015 It would seem that I was wrong, Anthony has sent me a photo of a plate off an ITW which is numbered 350 indicating that 311 and 310 are right. Apologies to the stamping man at Ransomes.
Stormin 4,458 #13 Posted November 19, 2015 Apologies to the stamping man at Ransomes. Somehow I don't think he'll be bothered, Jonathan. 1 hpearce reacted to this

expeatfarmer 591 #17 Posted December 3, 2015 I have been meaning to post this for a while, not only was I supremely fortunate to be given the lead that lead to the purchase of the sand skimming tractor but last week Neil Jarrett the MG parts specialist sent me up a seat he had found on a recent skimmer parts hunt, I cannot believe my luck , a brand new 50 year old original seat in incredible condition, just goes to show what is lurking out there waiting to be discovered. 2 Stormin and S1g reacted to this
