harryt 281 #1 Posted February 26, 2017 So I picked this up at Malvern yesterday. I bought it as I have never seen another one, it is German and powered by a JLO Diesel engine which is 2 stroke. This is an interesting set up and looks to be original apart from the alternator. From what I understand it is a vineyard tractor and this would explain the very tight turning circle. Has hydraulics and also an extra valve at the back which I have never seen on another tractor to perhaps power something like a log splitter? I have not been able to get it started yet, but looks promising as there is some smoke coming out of the exhaust, I think I need to investigate the glow plug. Any information would be appreciated on the tractor or the engine as I can find very limited information and mainly in German. C-101plowerpower 548 #11 Posted February 26, 2017 HAKO! i'd love me one of those one day but them cost quite a lot over here i dont think it needs any aditional two stroke oil since its a diesel, and being JLO id guess its aircooled. as for starting it try wetting a rag with petrol and holding it over the airfilter, should start on that the third tank might be engine oil, could be dry sump 1 harryt reacted to this Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
harryt 281 #12 Posted February 27, 2017 Thanks Koen, I will try that at the weekend. It is definitely air cooled but just not sure about the 2 stroke part of the engine. expeatfarmer 591 #14 Posted February 27, 2017 The two stroke Diesel refers to the induction process, the oil is a dry sump system not connected to the fuel. Diesel acts as a lubricant on it's own as per Sachs and Drayton/Stihl two stroke diesels. harryt 281 #17 Posted March 12, 2017 Managed to get the tractor running last weekend. Fun was short lived as the previous owner had made up some dodgy battery terminal clamps which short circuited on the dash, nearly setting tractor on flames😬. Went to turn the key again and nothing, so I lost my patience with it and left it for another day. That day was today and with a bit of fault finding I managed to locate the problem, the solenoid which must of burnt out. With a bit of wiring I was able to bridge the solenoid and start it up. I am very pleased with the tractor, extremely powerful and fast, must go about 20mph😳. My plan now is to sort the hydraulics on it and try and source a solenoid. nigel 1,876 #20 Posted January 10, 2022 Well I thought I would revive this topic, I ended up buying this from Harry ( I was robbed ) after it sat for 4 years in a container, it took me 3 days to get it running after changing all fuel pipes and wiring flushing tanks etc, when it did finally go it started revving and kept revving faster and faster until I could not stop it, my mate hid behind a digger as I jammed a lever on the governer to try and stop it which it didn’t ,then real disaster happend the governer snapped off, I ended up pulling the fuel line off and it stopped, now I have a major problem of getting the governer out of the engine, 🙄 1 Maxwell-8 reacted to this Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
