Winter Project

Recommended Posts

Got a good selection of those bushes myself Chris.  Also from John's. :)  Using a pair for my project now.  The way you have positioned the two chassis's on the lift will confuse you.   You won't know if you are coming or going.  :hide:

Small update as it’s a day of rest.

Ive sanded off the steering parts and given them a primer fitted together and fitted them in the chassis’s.

Ive noticed the Lawn Ranger  doesn’t have the bush at the end of the lower rod and its not listed in the parts manual but as i have a few in stock I’ve fitted them.

Today I’ve been looking at track-rods, all the ones i have seem to have play in them and as ive got a few ends in stock I thought I’d make some new ones without buying anything.

Started with a length of rod cut into 4 lengths and machined down in the lathe and threads cut.

Done two to see if they work which they do so I’ll make another pair tomorrow.

When I did the ones on the Black Horse, I used the badly worn ones off the C-125, cut down and threaded. The originals off the Black Horse went on the C-125.

 Saved buying bar. :)

I didn’t buy the bar either, it came from Johns .:P

I expect some of the ends did too.  :)  How did you cut the threads.  Lathe or by hand. ?  Either way, looks good.

looking at the rear wheels, I think there Knackered as they’ve rusted through the bolt holes and I don’t have anymore although I have some narrow 12 inch wheels that would fit on the tranny with hubs.

That raises another problem with the rear fender that i found when i offered it all up. Uuummmm.:scratchhead:

Managed to get some shed time today while Pam was at  the stove.

Ive offered up the side panels and  fitted the rear hubs and wheels, I wanted to fit the 12 inch wheels instead of the 8 inch as they had rotted away but in  doing so I’ve got to lift the rear fender over 3 inches to get clearance and it looks out of place.
