the showman 4,074 #128 Posted January 21, 2020 The second tool tray is now welded, painted and fitted and I’ve modified the 4 front spindles and fitted them so all the front axles and steering is finished. Next job on the list is to sort out 2 engines. 4 Stormin, pmackellow, Alan and 1 other reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #129 Posted January 22, 2020 After moving everything in the sheds I’ve found 2 Kohler K91 engines , by the looks of them they haven’t run for a while. The green one I bought from Paul last year and the black one I’ve had years and can’t remember where it came from. The green one is missing the recoil starter and spinning it with the drill i found it had no spark, removed the points and cleaned and regapped and tried again, i did manage to get it to fire a couple of times but that’s all. I’m going to strip the carb and put it in the altrasonic cleaner. The black one was much the same although I did get it to run briefly so that one’s carb is going in the cleaner’ While i was digging the cleaner out i found an Aspera engine cover with the same recoil starter but no cup so if anyone has one I’m looking. 4 Stormin, Cub Cadet, Triumph66 and 1 other reacted to this

the showman 4,074 #134 Posted January 25, 2020 I’ve taken the carbs off the 2 engines to clean, also found a K141 but. That wouldn’t start either so i removed the carb to find a stuck inlet valve also found the carbs knacked. . I then went and sat indoors with a cuppa and made some gaskets, 5 Stormin, Triumph66, pmackellow and 2 others reacted to this
Stormin 4,458 #135 Posted January 25, 2020 Nice set of hole punches, Chris. Dinning table got lots of little ringed grooves in it now? 1 the showman reacted to this
Cub Cadet 613 #136 Posted January 26, 2020 Great job on the wheels Chris! My RJ rear wheels were like that, only they had holes all the way round Hours spent with the mig and a grinder had them sorted out 1 the showman reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #137 Posted January 28, 2020 I’ve put the carbs through the ultrasonic cleaner and assembled one and fitted to the engine so i now have one nice running engine. I can say I’m well pleased with the engine as ive owned it for about six years and its been under the bench ever since. I feel a big hurdle crossed today. 8 Cub Cadet, nigel, Stormin and 5 others reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #138 Posted February 1, 2020 Had a few hours on the green engine today, it proved a problem to start after cleaning the carb so after fitting new points and plug cap and cranking it with an electric drill petrol started running out the carb. Another strip down revealed a hole in the float so with that changed it finally fired up. Had it running for about an hour with no smoke or rattles so the engine sounds good but still having trouble with the idle so I'm going to fit another carb tomorrow and see if it improve's. 4 nigel, Alan, Cub Cadet and 1 other reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #139 Posted February 4, 2020 Spent some time on the K141 engine ( in the photo above ). It had stuck valves and a broken carb. Ive removed the head and cleaned everything up, the bore looks good with no wear. Found some bits to build another carb and cleaned the points. Another engine now running with no smoke or rattles so have a choice which one’s to use. Happy bunny and can move on to the next challenge. 4 Alan, Anglo Traction, nigel and 1 other reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #140 Posted February 5, 2020 Been looking at the other front wheel with a dodgey valve hole and decided that as i have a spare half of a wheel I might as well use it. The second one was easier as I’ve done one before, all i have to do is drill a hole for the valve, or fit a tubeless tyre, 3 Alan, Cub Cadet and Stormin reacted to this

the showman 4,074 #142 Posted February 13, 2020 Found some 1/4 plate and made 2 engine plates so now both engines fitted and all pulleys and drive belts. Next job will be to make 2 fuel tank mounting brackets so the filler neck pokes through the hole in the hood. 6 nigel, Triumph66, Cub Cadet and 3 others reacted to this

Charlie231 2 #144 Posted February 15, 2020 Looks good so far Chris! You can't tell you've doctored the rims about, some good looking gaskets you've knocked up too. I could be wrong but I think that dark blue/black Kohler K91 was the one you had of me a few years back. 1 the showman reacted to this

the showman 4,074 #146 Posted February 20, 2020 Got tanked up today, found some off cuts of metal in stock so I’ve made two fuel tank brackets Think the photos show the process. 6 Triumph66, Cub Cadet, Stormin and 3 others reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #147 Posted February 21, 2020 Got both of the fuel tank brackets finished and in primer today only thing left to do is flush the rust out of the tanks. Had a look at the two bonnets , I’ve kept moving them down the list as i new they were bad but getting to the point where I need to do something with them, not sure what yet I don’t think I’ll sand blast them yet. 4 2 expeatfarmer, Triumph66, Cub Cadet and 3 others reacted to this

Stormin 4,458 #149 Posted February 22, 2020 They're bad. Especially the red one. Looks like they need the bad areas cut out and new material welded in. Or fibre glassing. 3 the showman, Triumph66 and Cub Cadet reacted to this
