paul 64 #1 Posted June 28, 2014 Hi all, You would think this barn would be empty of old machines now. I have had two rotovators , one tractor, zig zag harrows, trailed cultivator, allen scythe. There is a petter engine in there to come out yet, i don't know what model but has two flywheels about the size of shepard hut wheels and the engine is a bit smaller than me (I am six feet tall) also today I dug out two listers one is a d the other a junior, should keep me busy. paul 64 #6 Posted June 29, 2014 Had a quick look at the model d today and wondered why it was quite easy to turn the flywheel by hand. Took the valve cover off and found one of the push rods is missing also i have no starting handle. paul 64 #7 Posted July 4, 2014 Hi All. I have got most the parts for the model d now apart from the starting handle, so when the winter comes I will have something to do in the man cave. Must concentrate on finishing the tractor why the weathers nice, only problem is these farmers around here keep breaking things so I am forever welding various things up for them. paul 64 #14 Posted October 21, 2014 Hi All This is the last engine in the mentioned barn, a Lister CS 6/1. I thought the engine was seized but when drained about 3 litres of water out it turned over as you can see the bore dosent look to bad. Just got to free most the moving parts up now. paul 64 #20 Posted October 22, 2014 Hope your mrs does'nt want it back nigel , it stinks of diesel, no hole in it though so will have to see if your wifes left some money in it. Still judging be the other witty comments the smell could be a dead cat. Joke on the side it does have a badge on it but cant remember what it says, I will look. The cap on it is stamped B P (British Petroleum I suppose). I have just made the trolley for the engine today as the one on it was completely rotted so hopefully I can put it on and move it about this weekend. paul 64 #21 Posted November 3, 2014 Hi All I didn't get round to putting the engine on its new trolley over the weekend but managed to get the gib keys out and remove the flywheels. That took most of Saturday, problem is it gets dark quick now or is it that it gets later earlier. Here is some pics. paul 64 #24 Posted November 4, 2014 HI I found a small frost crack in the barrel today. Will get it sorted tomorrow though. I will drill a hole at either end to the depth of the crack to stop the crack spreading then heat it in the oven at work to about 300 degrees then weld it up with cast rods then let it cool slowly. paul 64 #25 Posted November 15, 2014 Hi All, Welded the frost crack up now, also the engine is on its new trolley so I can move it about. It has all been cleaned up degreased and some undercoat on for the winter. The other parts I have at home to do over the winter. Ie the head, valves, fan and radiator.
