  1. Ian, I believe the 14 and 16 hp kohler were as strong and reliable as any engine. Everything in my collection is a 14, 15, and 16 hp single cylinder engine. The D160 with the kohler 16 was only made in 1974 and 1975. From my understanding very few of these were built, most people wanting the new twin engines.
  2. I spent 2 solid days with a 4-1/2" disc sander, taking off peeling paint and feathering. Lots of ladder and roof work.
  3. I was 17 years old when this tractor was built (1975) and had just graduated High School and enlisted in the Army as a Infantryman
  4. Thanks Andrew, this one is like my other D160, single cylinder 16 hp kohler. I'll be looking for a deck and cart for this one and the one with the 3 point will get the Brinly 3 point box blade and front plow
  5. I do this all the time and I am sure others do as well,to our good fortune we are not close to a keyboard
  6. Working up at my mom"s in Wichita I happened upon an orphaned tractor, owner had passed. No implements but it runs great and was at the low price of 200.00
  7. A cockroach is nature as well and it coats my boot bottoms very well I believe I am able to save rubber trees from being used to resole so I am an environmentalists, no? Working on my poetry, sorry
  8. Looks like us over here have a new worry along with the Cursed Ivy http://www.freep.com/story/news/2015/08/03/plant-can-blind-you-found-michigan/31077073/
  9. This is what I am speaking of here in America, it seems that the public sentiment is being manipulated one way or another to create chaos between people whilst the problem still exist and grows. We fight about whose fault it is and they win. In America the small farmer for the part is a thing of the past, corporate farms of 10,000 to 500,000 acres rule everything, and they are the ones that get the government subsidies, not the small farmer. We have a few specialty stores that supposedly carry organic and responsibly grown vegetables, but it is all a sham for the large corporate farmers to get more money for their produce. However, the real problem in America is the vast majority of people do not care one way or another. They do not care about the farmers, they do not care about the workers, they do not care about foreign policy, but let one tree get cut down in a city park and they will have a million signatures sent to to the President in a week.
  10. Can any one enlighten me about the veracity of this news story? We in America get drug laced news stories designed to alter our opinion of world events. Leaders here have figured out we can be psychologically manipulated so easily they can forego the Catnip and Deer Cocaine, pity, I enjoyed both. http://sputniknews.com/europe/20150801/1025304166.html#ixzz3hnK5M3pK
  11. Richard would this method work on coils from other small engines? Thanks, Alain
  12. I meant to type "End of a Marriage", I wonder if that was a Freudian slip?
  13. The other two must be marriage and the death of a loved one, even though these two events may be related
  14. Chris he was still feeling the effects of a 2300 mile round trip and 32 hours of driving to get the tractor, him and one other driver. It would be like a trip to Berlin and back. After the trip he found he needed a repair on his Ford F-350 Super-Duty turbo diesel, the turbo needs work, ouch. With the VAT on a truck like that I could buy that tractor, maybe two of them.
  15. At least it has a ferocious name. Many medications make one susceptible to sunburn, including some blood pressure meds and mood altering meds, they don't do enough to point this out especially for children with ADHD taking meds and going outside. Hello mother, hello father, Here I am at Camp Grenada. Camp is very entertaining, And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining! I went hiking with Joyce Fivey, He developed poison ivy. You remember Lennard Skynard, He got tomain poisoning last night after dinner! All the counselors hate the waiters, And the lake has alligators! And the head coach wants no sissies, So he reads to us from something called 'Ulysses'. No, I don't want (this should scare ya), But my bunkmate has malaria! You remember Geoffrey Hardy, They're about to organize a searching party! Take me home, oh mother, father. Take me home, I hate Grenada. Don't leave me out in the forest, Where I might get eaten by a bear! Take me home, I promise that I will not make noise, Or mess the house with other boys. Oh please don't make me stay; I've been here one whole day! Dearest father, darling mother, How's my precious little brother? Let me come home if you miss me; I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me! Wait a minute; it stopped hailing. Guys are swimming, guys are sailing. Playing baseball; gee that's better. Mother, father, kindly disregard this letter! source: http://www.lyricsondemand.com/s/spikejoneslyrics/hellomotherhellofatherlyrics.html
  16. Thanks Andrew, I believe it is starting to subside somewhat, at least it isn't getting worse today. I believe this was Poison Sumac, not Ivy. I never even thought of it bothering me since I took the anecdote 40 years ago and hadn't gotten it till the other day. I guess it has worn off.
  17. That's a new style Brinly 3 point blade. He just ordered two 26x11-12 Duro Frontiers for the rear an two 5.00-10 Kenda tires and wheels for the front. Those two Duros were 189.99 delivered to his door.
  18. Are these poisonous plants available in the UK as well. We have Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, and worst of all Poison Sumac. I recently had an encounter with the latter, fortunately none on the face or privates, but it has gotten to the point that between the small continuous blisters all over my arms, armpits to fingertips, I also have blisters the size of a pence that oozes a yellow solidified material the consistency of chicken fat. BTW it has gotten much worse today, I'll forego the new pictures as I am only looking straight ahead. Weekends are a bad time to go to the doctor around here, many health professional that work weekends are also in community service, drug counseling, and methadone during the week.

Pleas try to refrain from using the ether on the Kohler, it is real easy to damage these engines by a back fire of starting fluid/ether. Use carb cleaner or a spritz bottle with gas instead, it will work the same and prevent possible damage to the engine. The fellow who started using and recommending starter fluid for small engines needs his exterior components adjusted. It would be the same as you using nitro fuel from a dragster to start your family car.
  20. I think it very possible to bolt a small briggs period breather onto the engine
  21. I used a new 10hp Tecumseh to replace my 8 hp Tecumseh from my Massey MF-8, they were exactly the same size and the old exhaust and air box bolted right onto the new engine. The new air box was oval, not round, and would not fit through hood, so I was glad the old one fit and I didn't have to cut the hood. The new 10hp Tecumseh was about 295.00
  22. He is going to buy new tires for it next, paid 2100 for it, great machine.
  23. But he could reach the handle bars.
  24. I've heard of "Ape Hanger" handle bars, but these may be "Clothes Line" handle bars, no grips either, wow
  25. Really nice job, I wonder if it would be possible to use a more period air breather and exhaust?
