Now what to do with them?

I wasn't out to cause controversy and agree that none are shift on the go. I've replaced the selector on on one and can see it was never designed to be pulled through the middle under load, it's just not berry enough! agree on the grease too, I'd rather have something that splashes around rather than is thrown to the extremities! Btw never seen a spicer one, always been foote or peerless...

Now what to do with them?

those peerless boxes will generally allow shift on the go if the are the ones with a spring loaded key that runs through the gears. They are usually 5+reverse all in constant mesh and packed with sticky bentonite grease.

Removing a stuck main engine pulley shaft

of the dozen or so Briggs verticals I have worked on they are all 1" straight shaft with an inch long key (not half moon) The flywheel end on the other hand is always a 1" tapered with short very soft key that is designed to shear when things go wrong (don't ask how I know)

Removing a stuck main engine pulley shaft

weld a nut into the broken shaft and screw a bolt in and then it will just wind the existing pulley off. I've never seen on seized as they rarely see any moisture - only oil! good luck

    Happy belated birthday Chris!
  16. 9-10th June at Newby Hall near Ripon, last year we had almost a hundred horticultural exhibits in a sea of over 1000 tractors! http://www.newbyhall.com/events/tractor-fest-made-in-yorkshire/ I also arrange the Northern Wheel Horse round up, this will be our 5th year. We peaked at 36 Wheel Horses two years ago, but am hoping to beat it this year... Who's coming and what are you bringing?

Tractortest Newby Hall 2018 - all welcome

Low on entries this year, only 70 so far... last year we had 100. Only 17 wheel horses too, and half of them are the smiths and Chris Sutton! Final date for entries is end of April. You will only get in after that if you bring something pretty special...

    15 Years Ago This Month

Yeah, great story Chris heres ours... July 2010 when we picked up a Norlett from flookburgh followed by a C-101 in August from Otley then a raider 10 from Surrey in September by May the next year I had met @neil who had the most awesome collection even then and saw my first GT14 as well as his suburban and RJ. I think by then we were hooked but had new things in our sights! November 2011 saw my get the GT14 best not forget where it really started... May 2009 with Ewans first westwood

    Yeah, it snowed... a lot!

We got more than we expected...
  23. meadowfield

    Yeah, it snowed... a lot!

To be honest, the tractors with ploughs wouldn't have cut it. It took 3 hours with the digger as the drifts were 5 foot... luckily one one of my neighbours has a 200hp Massey with v plough....
  24. meadowfield

    Yeah, it snowed... a lot!

I never made it to work! Always wanted to be snowed in. Bored of it now, if only I had a tractor running that would take a plough... we are missing Jakes tractor now it has been sold
