GAV694 reacted to 4x4forks in gutbrod with new rotovator hard at work
Its more like a race for the keys and I lost. He is 6ft4" and his legs are longer than mine.
We were using 2nd gear as it was a faster rotor speed . I made a much simpler locking frame that bolted to the rear linkage drop bracket. Quick to attach and de-attach and worked a treat. I will take photos and post .
My son got the second gutbrod up and running and used it to roll the soil after seeding. Not bad after not running for 10 years .

GAV694 reacted to 4x4forks in gutbrod with new rotovator hard at work
Got my stunt drive hard at work leveling out spoil over some virgin ground which were old ruts . Very hard clay ground but the machine coped well. The reduction hubs make such a difference . Thanks John

GAV694 reacted to 4x4forks in Hydraulic Tipping Trailer
Well I found the light switch and with the aid of my stunt driver, Here is the finished Hydraulic tipping trailer.
Really pleased with it. Link armes raise and lower when trailer tips and lowers but small price to pay.

GAV694 got a reaction from 4x4forks in Gutbrod Potato Planter
So at long last the planters were delivered today, only had enough time to take them off the pallet and get a quick photo to show the drive wheel that turns the bit that drops the potatoes.

GAV694 reacted to Stormin in Another in the stable.
Collected a '75 Raider 10 today with side discharge cutting deck. Engine supposedly OK, but gears cannot be selected. The idea is to eventually restore it, or make something special. The engine will go into the C-125 while the 12hp off that is rebuilt.
Below photo's of as collected.
Not to bad I suppose, seeing as it's been stood outside for a number of years.
The deck has not fared as well. But I think it can be rescued eventually.
First thing was to blow the tyres up to make it easier to push about. Next a good pressure wash. Strangely there's red paint under that blue. Then it was up onto the work bench.
Just to see what would happen, I connected a battery. Turned the key and the engine spun easily. I did check the oil first. Cleaned and checked plug and points and got a nice healthy spark.
Here is when I found throttle and choke cables/controls, very, very stiff. Never mind, choke fully open, throttle halfway, squirt petrol into the carb, turn key and......
It fired up and ran for a second or two.
While I set too on the controls, I left the old petrol in the tank to drain. Have no idea how old it is, but I've never seen golden brown petrol before. Well, not out of a plastic tank.
That's it for now.

10 out of 10 for your lad, he is correct it is the park brake although I havent ever been into a transmission so I dont know what it actually brakes.
Do you have the Gutbrod bug now Duncan?
Is it going to be another amazing restoration?
Cheers

GAV694 reacted to 4x4forks in New Toy Gutbrod Rotovator
I Have received today my new toy from Germany . A rotovator for my Gutbrod 1032 .
This was all due to a very helpful MOM member John, without whom this would not of been possible.
Off the pallet and straight onto the tractor then try and find a dry bit of ground to give it a try.
Great bit of kit, No noises and very sound condition.
This was being drven in low gear but no reduction hubs. Still looking for them.
I will upload a bit of video when I can. (this is my son driving not me)
When will it stop raining????

GAV694 reacted to harryt in Gutbrod 1030
So here is my new addition to the fleet, a gutbrod 1030 with deck. The guy that I bought it off new nothing about it and just fancied buying something to fix. I also bought a Bolens husky 800 off him and a Brinly plow. Overall the tractor is in good original condition about from the paint, it has been painted in the past. It was not working when I bought it as he said it had an electrical fault. However I tested it this morning by putting back together what he had taken apart, fresh fuel and a battery and away it went. It goes through all the gears and mows well. This is my first gutbrod and I am really starting to like them, it is surprisingly fast as well.
I just wanted your opinion on what I should do, keep it as is or restore it, bearing in mind there are not many restored ones out there. Here are a few pictures...

GAV694 got a reaction from 4x4forks in Gutbrod Potato Planter
Has anyone got any pictures or information on how to attach the potato or veg planters to a Gutbrod?
I have just bought a potato planter but I am not sure how to connect it up. The planter isnt home yet but should be in about a weeks time.
I know you use the standard tool frame like this (without the grubber)
And there are brackets which I dont have
The center bracket looks like it will couple the planter to the tool frame but I am not sure what the other two are. I was thinking lift arm extensions but I think the planter will be heavy hanging that far behind the tractor.
Any thoughts?
