Should this be in the 'Home built items' section?    Pulled this out of the spare stable/hay barn, I made this a couple of years ago out of an old oxy bottle, some scrap channel, an old oak fence post, (for bearings) J D front wheels and other assorted pieces from the 'come in handy' pile. My original intention was to make a smaller version of the fold up rollers the big boys use and pull it behind the Wheelhorse, but I ran out of spare bottles. With the wheels in place it fits nicely through the stable door. By pulling the lever the roll is lifted or lowered. The spike tooth harrow is one of a set of three I bought from the 'Cheffins' machinery sale a couple of months ago

Thanks mate, it do look good.

Thanks Norm, yep the engine does look just right in there.

Thought you would like it Ben   Once I had the engine out I knew there was no way I could stop for the day with seeing the engine in place

Thanks Neil, I'm really looking forward to the build too and of course the fun of driving it

Hi Charlie.. Will the be videos soon???   But of course

Hi Ian,  some pic`s of the gearbox I was given, it has slight damage to the keyway on the output shaft, I`m not sure what Kubota deck it came off but it was quite big, rough dim`s are 150 x 150 x 120mm output shaft is approx 150mm long & 25mm dia. No doubt  you can find something similar, I was told these things new are around  £1500.     Could you not use the internals from the bike hub & fabricate a case to suit ? Having seen previous examples of your work I`m sure it would not be too dificult

It's been a busy but very worth while day in the shack

The Honda started to look a little less complete..

But eventually it gave up it's grip on the engine.

Getting it on the bench was interesting, I had to "walk" it up a plank!

    A view from the back..

Sooooo... The big question was, will the engine fit in the Raider without having to trim the hood or extend the chassis???

    You bet it did :D

The time had come to check the drive chain for fit, but first I had to do a bit of trimming to make some clearance space..

Woo Hoo, the chain fit's without hitting anything.

I'd best cover up the holes now

Of course not having a bit of box the same size going spare I had to cut  and shut some smaller stuff.

With the outrigger off and clamped to some rather hefty box to stop it warping, it was serious welding time..

I know its been awhile since I've posted, but I've been busy with my latest project. I've been looking for a work truck to replace my work van. Nothing fancy, just a nice big truck that I can mount my air compressor, generator, and other tools in. I found a 1993 Chevrolet K2500 4WD, 6.5 Turbo Diesel, with the engine taken apart. It has a decent interior, and the body is fair. It will make a perfect work truck. One that I can do whatever with, and not have to worry about scratches, and other things happening to it. I've given the engine a going thru. Replaced the piston rings, bearings, gaskets, new injector, and a few other things. The engine is about finished, and of course I had to paint it up pretty!  If there is any part of your vehicle that you want to look good, its the engine, Right?   Here are a few pics. Thanks

    Short update....
Bendy made it to this years UK wheel horse round up and then back.... some of you saw it, the weather spoilt it off the rest.
I started on the footplates this week, using the original ones but reversed left and right.

New bars for the footrests - a bit of rebar

With the heavily modified plates back on

Amazing how the original front angle works in reverse

And with the seat on blocks to get the height

Next stop, rear transmission strip down

    Hi again,
some photos of the John Deere 279 mower deck spindles converted to front wheel hubs. The holes are not threaded as i thought, I threaded them M10. The wheels are off a Howard rotavator.

ranger reacted to Mowersman in The twin Suffolk...
This all started at the end of 2012 when someone I know posted a Youtube video of a "twin cylinder" Suffolk Iron Foundery engine that he'd made. However the next day, he revealed it to be a fake. Soon after a friend of mine gave me 6 Suffolks that he was otherwise going to scrap and a plan started forming
For the US members on the forum, The Suffolk engine is a small cast iron block lawn mower engine, used on Suffolk reel mowers from the 50's through to the early 90's (?). It is almost identical to the Briggs and Stratton Model N, to the point that most of the parts are interchangable. Here is what one looks like before I got my hands on it!
    (Not mine, I must add)
So, a (Not very good...) video showing how mine was made. I'm not very good at taking pictures, so that is all I have at the moment. I plan to do a tear down this year and paint it all, I'll take more pics then

    And one of it running!!!

Unfortunatly I don't have a recent video. It now has a single carb, as getting the twin carbs set right was a pain, though I may try twin carb in the future, as I think a lot of the problems were caused by the ignition coil for the 2nd cylinder being on its last legs. it was getting worse and worse every time I ran it and the last time, I would only get th occasional fire on no2 pot. It is currently laid up under the bench, waiting a new coil. The exhausts have also been done with copper and brass fittings, though I plan on making a silencer for it in similar fashion, as it is quite loud. The next part of the plan is to find an engineless 17" Suffolk Super Punch mower and mount it on that!

HI James, I'm using this stuff.. Not even going to try and pronounce the name    Garry bought it years ago for topping up bike battery's and it's been sitting on a shelf in the shack ever since!

After yesterdays mouse hunting I was greeted by the build bench looking like this when I went to the shack this morning!

A little while later the bench was a lot tidier and I could actually see what I was going to work on

Well, not all the parts as some are stashed under the bench.

As I was stripping the last remaining parts off the hood stand I noticed more rust that needs a bit of work.. The hood stand is now stewing in the E tank.

I did make a start on cleaning up the chassis, but I didn't get that much cleaned up as the shack was filling up with rust dust and it was raining so I couldn't do this part outside!

A much dryer and warmer day is forecast for tomorrow, so fingers crossed for some rust stripping action in the sun

And for your viewing delight, here's part 1 of Project Zero-ish turn.
