  1. In certain parts of the agricultural USA areas you must have severe soil erosion as the hedgerows reduces solid erosion and acts as a filtered wind break. In certain parts of France, you can see miles upon miles of sweeping agricultural lands with very few hedgerows. As as a rule of thumb, the more species of shrubs and trees, within a given length of hedge, the older the hedge is. In theory, if you have 10 different species, then the hedge is approximately 1000 years old which is often evidenced by old maps dating back to the 15 century.
  2. What I find odd is that there are no hedgerows at all!
  3. Another nice score Alain.
  4. Viking, as far as I am aware there was no collection bag with these cometary mowers. I attach a photo of a Hayter mower lifted off the Biddenden Show for comparison. This has the original Briggs engine on it. Whereabouts in Devon are you?
  5. I think we are in the same predicament as the USA as Theresa May, I am sure, is Margaret Thatcher reincarnated as she show some worryingly similar mannerisms. Still, she wears some lovely shoes so that's alright then.
  6. I will be there next year with two Bolens hopefully.
  7. Now up for sale in the For Sale Section.... For details, contact Mr Greedy B'Stard of Toss Pot House, Rip Off Lane, Shamingshire for more details.
  8. Good team work producing two blades for this weekend's show. Look forward to seeing them in action via photos and videos at Biddenden.

  10. Alain, a great collection of garden tractors in a well equipped and organised workshop. Hope it goes well with the visiting disadvantaged youths.
  11. That not what Chris said to me. I can't repeat here.
  12. I am so relieved to hear that you added levers to your thing Mark that for second I thought...... .
  13. Good tip Alain and the Bolens looks a sturdy beast too.
  14. Learnt something useful there and it makes sense too. Cheers
  15. I really enjoyed it today and thanks to Nigel for letting me drive the blue Trojan; a little gem of a tractor for someone with a smaller body mass. Also many thanks to Chris for setting up and organising another splendid day. Great to meet up with everyone and good to meet up with Iain after two years emailing each other. Also thanks to Chris for allowing me to drive his Bolens 1886. A fantastic machine as suspected. I got a year to start planning a mini Bolens invasion at RPT !
  16. Looking good. Thanks for loading up the photos Nigel.
