  1. I thought there was a v shape cut on the flywheel? Might want to post that photo on GTT? Have you jumped the solenoid?

    Choked.

That looks like a very useful bit of kit. I regularly lubricate my mower cables when I service them. Makes all the difference.
  3. I spoke to Iain and he suggested that you start looking at the dyna start to see if it runs and work back from there. The ignition switch can also be a cause of it not starting as can a dud solenoid. I can't see why you can't connect your jump leads on the solenoid to see if that works. The seized pto and high / low lever should not impede firing up the engine.
  4. Scott, I got some responses regarding the cut out on your hood. It looks original as you rightly thought. https://gardentractortalk.com/forums/topic/69596-bolens-850-cut-out-hood-query/
  5. Yes yours is definitely a '66 model. I think there are Parts 2 & 3 on that above video.
  6. There is a YT video about firing up a Bolens 850. If I can find it I will give you the link. Have you looked at the points yet? Also what's the serial number on your tractor?
  7. I will post your query on GTT and get back to you. I will be interested to know too!
  8. Kevin and Ethan, just a short message to say many thanks for organising a great weekend at Biddenden and I am sorry I could only do the Saturday as I needed to get back to Devon to meet up with our builders yesterday (Monday). Great to meet up with like minded enthusiasts too. All the best to you two guys.
  9. Look forward to seeing updates Scott. When you drain the transmission oil be sure to use GL1 spec oil as the gears are bronze. As far as I am aware and understand the cut out on the bonnet are for the later models. I looked at my 850 today and that bonnet is the same as my 1050 which got no cut out. I am sure a more knowledgeable Bolens expert will confirm it. i can thoroughly recommend both Rick and Brian from the USA on Bolens parts. Check out GTT Bolens Forum and see their respective websites.

    Bolens 1050

A few more photos back at the yard after I unloaded the old girl back from Biddenden. I also attach a video too.
  11. I thought I took more photos than I did at TF on Saturday. It was a good event and a great opportunity to catch up with people. Here are a few photos that I took. Some more photos
  12. Good videos Scott. I must upload some photos too.

Likewise it was good to meet you too. Looking forward to hearing more about your 850 as you start working on her. Cheers Andrew

    Bolens 1050

Update. Back in 2017 I replaced the seat cover with a red cover. I tried to fir it up but to no avail. I put in a new battery and though it turned over it just did not fired up. In 2018 I took it to my mate Chris who swapped the engine over with another Wisconsin. He swapped the carbs over and a few ignition components plus replaced the exhaust with another pepper pot one. It turned over but would just not fire but hampered by time and lack of space I collected it back off Chris and displayed it at Tractor Fest today. The smell of stale petrol was noticeable and the chap who was running the Howard's parts store suggested that I drain the stale fuel. With his help the fuel was drained (golden yellow) and with the help from Scott who is a member of MOM and a Bolens 850 owner, replaced the plug and reset the gap. I refilled the fuel tank with fresh petrol with added Redex. It spluttered and farted but came alive with clouds of smoke which eventually cleared. The long and short of it is that it fired up and runs very well and all the gears moves smoothly. A few tweaks such as inserting a new choke and throttle cables for example. Up to date photos will follow shortly.
  15. Chris, just to say many thanks for organising the Horticultural section for RPT. As always I enjoy the opportunity to drive my Bolens around the showground and giving it a work out. Always good to catch up with fellow enthusiasts too.
  16. All loaded up tonight and ready to go at first light tomorrow morning. See you lads soon.
  17. Quality work by using quality equipment
  18. Very organised Alain; I am having a wooden lean to glasshouse installed so I can grow tomatoes and peppers next year. I am growing some runner beans and so far we have had 5 servings for dinner. Can't beat fresh vegetables.
  19. I might bring my discs if I got room. I am hoping to pick up my 1050 from Chris which means room will be very tight in my van. I could always leave my implement at my Mother's and pick it up later in in the year.... I just love this old lady partly because I got it from the USA and from a scrapyard too but also because it is original and such character in my opinion.
  20. I had a bit of time today to sort out my 600. It fired up on its first pull after 4 months being laid up. I gave it a quick service such as topping up the engine oil, pumped up the rear tyres and greased all the nipples. I also gave it a quick run and then rubbed the bodywork down with wire wool and treated it to the oily rag treatment to accentuate its patina. I will give it another wipe over one evening. I am looking forward to catching up with everyone and have a mooch around the two shows.
  21. Alain, in my opinion I think it is wrong and disrespectful to have a Trump Blimp flying above London that been approved by the Mayor of London. I am not a fan of Trump but I accept that he been democratically elected by the American people and therefore that should be respected. Trump's policies, rightly or wrongly, struck a chord with the American electorate, and politicians/ people in your county and worldwide should try to understand that and find a compromise to satisfy both the Republicans and Democrats.
  22. I got some more photos of those pickups. According to the Club there is only two, possibly a third genuine Anglia Pickups. The ones yesterday were converted from vans beyond redemption.
