Around the River Dart the soil is very free draining as it consists of shale known as Dartmouth Shale. Also the Bolens has very good traction too..... Fortunately the washing line was not in use; hope she does not noticed that it is longer.....

I had a couple of jobs today at a customer's garden and I thought I would give the 600 a brief workout especially since the head gasket and exhaust been replaced by my mate Chris a few days ago. It fired up first time this morning and was a lot quieter than of late. There was a dead Acer (Japanese maple) that needed to be removed. I pruned the branches off and mattacked the roots around the tree. I slipped on a rope around the tree and secured it to the hitch. The Bolens pulled it easily in first gear and took two attempts. Considering that it is a 6hp Bolens without diff lock I was pleased with what it could do.

I like the mobile saw bench Norm. A useful bit of kit.

Very tempted Norm but it is the logistics of transporting it and storing it.

Well I saw Chris earlier today and saw his new toy. It is a very impressive bit and of kit and we both agreed that we were surprised the model never took off. It was great to catch up with him today and I look forward to catching up with him at RPT this August.

Good luck finding a Round Hood Wheel Horse; they are the better looking models in my opinion and to me are what epitomises the Wheel Horse Image. Have you any garden tractors at the moment? Norfolk is a good hunting ground for vintage garden machinery. There was a WH Round Hood Lawn Ranger on EBay a few days ago....

I think there is enough 'bounce' on the suspension when I checked it over last week.

I am not sure Norm if it is homemade or not but one thing for sure it is very well made. The seller did say there was a manufacturer's plaque on it years ago.

Last Sunday I bought an old garden trailer for next to nothing from a chap up the road. It just fit in the back of the van with an inch to spare. I need a trailer to haul items from my yard to and fro from my van as the track there is very muddy and rutted. It is a particularly well made trailer with a hinged dropside tailgate. The tyres are in good condition too and there is a very rudimentary suspension system too. It rolls freely and the handle on the drawbar is a nice touch. The plan is to rub down the frame and repainted it in an appropriate colour. Might be a dark green metal frame or white. As for the woodwork I could use marine ply or old timber which I would sand down and use Danish Oil. I hope to use some old brass screws to secure the wood in place. The seller said there was a manufacturer plaque on the trailer at one point but sadly now disappeared for eternity. Does anyone recognise the make of the trailer? I think it will be look cool behind one of my Bolens. When the weather warms up I will be making a start on this project.

Alain, I agree with you about Trump and what I think is mass hysteria by galvanised by certain people. At the end of the day, Trump was democratically elected by the American people and that need to be respected whatever our views are on him and his policies. In my opinion, I do not think Trump will entertain the thought of doing a second term as President and I think the Republican Party will be looking to nominate another leader instead of Trump. The Democrats should be concentrating on finding a suitable leader to challenge Trump politically and to understand why so called safe seats were lost to Trump in the Presential Elections. Clearly some of the issues raised by Trump in his campaign have strucked a chord with some Americans and that should be respected whether it is right or not.

Alain, it was mentioned briefly on the news covered by both the BBC and ITN. As far as I am aware, there is no real tensions between our two countries. This happens on a fairly regular basis due to the proximity of Russia and the European mainland. As for the Royal Navy accompanying or in reality shadowing Russian naval ships, it is because The English Channel is a very narrow strip of sea and is heavily used by all nations as it is a short cut to the Mediterranean and vice versa. My gripe is that the French Navy appears to sit back and let the UK do all the shadowing (I have not seen any reports of French activity). The British media is concentrating on three main issues at the moment: Brexit, the NHS and the Trump's administration with the odd forays into North Korea and the Middle East.
