  1. I took 137 and the digger to Hesket Newmarket Show on Saturday it is only 3 miles from where I live and so I literally took the two machines a can pf petrol and a couple of spare spark plugs. 137 behaved admirably but the digger started playing up and being hard to start, the solenoid failed a while ago and as yet i have not replaced it so it was on manual start which is usually no problem. Fortunately I had my two stroke Stihl drill starter with me. The digger cut out when lined up for the grand parade, i changed the plug and all seemed well, completed a lap of honor with my first rosette for best machine and parked up until the end of the day. came to load up and just would not run above tickover checked the fuel filters drained down the carb blew through the emulsion tube and gained a slight improvement but as soon as you increased throttle it cut out. With the aid of a couple of exhibitors we managed to load it on my trailer on tickover ( in the pouring rain ) and eventually I got home. Every symptom was of fuel starvation so today I stripped cleaned and rebuilt the carb, removed the fuel pump filter, inline filter and blew through the tank filter, no change started ok but would not increase revs, spark tell tale told me there was a spark, fitted a new plug checked the gap still no change. Confident that the carb and fuel system were spotless I checked the float level, no problem. Finally I removed the magneto, checked the points, perfect ! Fitted my strobe checked static and dynamic timing, spot on. Removed the mag again changed the condensor and off it went perfect tickover like a watch! How on earth can a condensor simulate fuel starvation problems ! Long winded as usual but thought it might help someone else with a similar problem in the future.
  2. Hi John The basic answer is yes but it is a lot of work you will need to make up new hubs with sprockets built in to take drive from the front wheels to the rear, modify the side plates to accommodate tyres and wheels. but yes it can be done look back in Ride on's for ITW Rhys Boni built a beautiful replica.
  3. Pleased to see it has arrived at it's new home.
  4. Following on from the success of the display at Malvern, a group of us thought it would be nice to finish the 80th anniversary year of the MG tractor with a display at the Newbury Show. I have entered a group stand as the Ransomes owners club which will provide us with an indoor display area and an outdoor area from which arena mobile displays can be made drive around etc. I am hoping to take a number of machines hopefully including the ultra rare complete skimming tractor. I would appreciate it if other owners thinking about going would indicate which machines they will be taking so that we can again cover the range. The MEARL archives will be there again as will Neil Jarrett , anyone needing spares should contact Neil and save on carriage particularly for larger parts. We will be taking our camper plus trailer so let's hope the weather is kind. I look forward to seeing you there.
  5. What makes this mower a cemetry mower?
  6. Bicycle bottom bracket bearing cups are 2" and bigger>
  7. Nice job on both occasions.
  8. Some of the threads on mG2 137 were like that , they turned out to be what are known as "cycle " threads from the bicycle manufacturing industry. Which would fit with 137 having a Sturmey Archer engine.
  9. Brilliant machines, at my school they used to mow the playing fields with a set of 5 towed by a series 1 Land Rover.
  10. That's great that you have collected it another thing off Freddie's mind. Looks a very interesting roller should look great painted up.
  11. Have spoken to Freddie and he is quite happy he syas that there is an Allen Scythe, an Atco ride on and possibly a cement mixer also up for grabs.

  14. No photo I am afraid but think it is still there Norman was asking about it today for Showman.
  15. Thinking ahead to the Newbury Tractor Show and the end of the 80th anniversary year I am trying to locate the last Ransomes crawler built in 1965/ 66 , I have serial number 15343, does anyone know of a tractor with a higher number ? I thought it would be good to display the oldest known along with the youngest .
  16. Koen The engine is almost identical to 137 MG 2, you may find that the crankshaft output is longer . Keep some of your green oak to make some new rollers for the front of your mower,
  17. I like the track mats where did you find those?
  18. Looks superb well done I can see you spending many happy hours in there !
  19. looks big now, is it double doors on the other end. Are the neighbors pleased?
  20. That is quite a find are you going to restore it ,you could run it on compressed air driven off a wheelhorse mounted compressor.
  21. Bit of steam and a few naked people and you could set up your own sauna.
  22. The mice will be cosy when they get into all that insulation
