  1. Not sure what they were main dealers for but I guess it would have been combines. I can only assume the sign is older than 1970 as Ransomes didn't use that type of lettering after that time, it change to more square letting and a square red background.

  2. Been after this sign for a few years now, the other day the boss said I could have it previously wanting £1000 for it!

Rutherfords were a large agricultural engineers here in the borders manufacturing grain handling equipment, sheds ect, established around 1850 it went into liquidation in 1995. It has several branches, one survived in earlston however it shut down about a year ago.

Anyway this sign has survived the building going through two sales and nobody removed it, it was obvious there was others around it but these were long gone.

Will look good once the sparrow crap Is cleaned off, or do I leave it?

  3. Had a look today its a Lanz :)

The name of this has been on the tip of my tongue for a few days it is indeed a lanz - Hermann Lanz Varimot Tractor from probably around 1957, I'm sure it's been for sale on eBay.

Few interesting videos on YouTube, loader version ect. Actually quite fancy one.

  4. I am building a replica machine and require what I believe to be called admirality plate, it's an old style of tread plate with dimond shapes on, I am aware of the modern steel plate that you get but it does not have the correct pattern.

If anyone has seen this or has a bit lying about then I would be greatfull if you would pass it on, I've been to just about every blacksmith, engineers and scrap yard in the borders and no one has seen it.

I require two pieces around 12" square I have a piece so I know it exists!post-294-0-69131600-1431375290_thumb.jpg
