there should be a rocker arm that the cable attaches to, then two arms if I recall - one might be spring loaded

  3. hi everyone i now have the westwood running pretty good and starting off the key but theres a problem with a rod that comes off carb choke and goes behind ? the plate that the throttle is connected to but i cannot see where it belongs any suggestions it has to work in with the throttle throttle pulled full up is choke on shove it down and the choke goes off    any help would be great many thanks    dave k

  4. post-298-0-06025900-1416584955_thumb.jpg 1017 just as i was considering dropping a ton tattie box filled with tractor front weights      then it got a repreive new clutch/new tyres x4/ new drive belt /newbattery /new exhaust / new seat cover /   and sawbench          thanks   danarmdave

  5. I like it as well. Simple and effective.  Could do with a bigger blade though. :D  Is it detachable from the tractor?

yes it can take a bigger blade and you disconnect the drive belt and two chromed dome nuts and slip out bolts and you can lift off or reverse away from the frame i made  up for that purpose or can just sit on blocks of wood as it is quite stable you just have to remember and not walk into angle arms sticking out as its v sore         thank you danarmdave

  6. hi everyone i put a new solonoid on and now turns over off key but when i removed the carb to clean i took bowl off and the float fell out also the two locating brackets for the float pin to go through had somehow broken off so i have ordered a new carb complete coming in at around £52.00 inc vat so i will let you know what happens when that is fitted    thanks   danarmdave

  7. hi everyone i bought a westwood ride on mower a couple of weeks ago for £40.00 it is complete but been lying for three years i have put a new ignition switch  /battery /fuel line /fuel filter /plug /plus repaired the chewed up starter cog and spring and fresh oil  but it still wont turn over with the key when you turn key ignition lights come on and their is a clicking sound under the bulkhead where the solenoid is could it be that because the fuses in the ignition line are not blown also if you take the air filter off and turn the petrol on it just pours out of the hole the the air filter screw screws into and the only way you can get it to turn over is with jump leads onto the starter and earth it on a bolt head and sometimes it starts but usually just turns over and over with nothing happening sorry this is so long winded but i am a diesel man i have no place in the petrol engine world they run rings round me so please someone help any ideas         many thanks     danarmdave            dave k    :banghead:   :dunno:       ps i do have a load more photos to download including the westwood :coolphotos:

  8. I don't go out of my way to collect old tools but over the years a few have got into my toolbox for one reason or another so here's one for you (click to enlarge)....

    attachicon.gifwrench.jpg

The method of construction fascinates me, obviously an adjustable wrench and pretty old but what is its origin? I can't help thinking that maybe it was part of a set of tools suppied with something mechanical and somewhere someone is desparately looking for one of these.

    Any ideas guys?

    Andy

hi andy your wrench is called the monkey wrench acme twist handle patented on feb 27th 1883 by fred seymour detroit     google in directory of american tool and machinery patents for more info      many thanks      danarmdave      dave k B)

  10. hi charlie the chainsaw you picture is a 1950s teles dont know model  but there is something wrong with the tank and carb on yours as it should not sit like that the tank should be sitting level and i dont think that it had the clutch fitted to turn blade sideways as it would not run with the carb side on ? only my thoughts   thanks   danarmdave

  11. hi neil the lister d that we have driving the saw bench is still mounted on its original trolley and both trolley and d still retain their drake and fletcher brass plaques this unit started out as a vegatable washer or so we are led to believe it came from inverness where it had been in the same family from new belonging to the war ag ? will stick some more photos when time permits    thanks   danarmdave       ps i left it in its working clothes and it gets loads of attention

  12. First of all ,good to see you back here Richard (Anglo Traction) .

Great collection of chain saws, are they all working.?

only three dont run as the coils have separated but they are only for display and i do use them every now and then so if they dont run they will not get me as they are very heavy and quite unpredictable with no safety features    ;)   all the best    danarmdave

  13. That is quite some collection of saws you have there,

I recognise in the foreground of picture four a Danarm / Consolidated Pnuematic air saw, have you had this saw running on air? The pair that we had at work were powerful beasts but fell foul of elf and safety regs with no chain brakes etc so ended up in a local saw collection along with their hand books, spare parts also became a problem if I remember correctly.

The claim was that these saws could be safely used under water but I never saw that put to the test!

    Ray.

hi ray the pnumatic danarm we have was bought at a sale at rosyth naval base fife and i believe a french company still makes and sells exact copies of the saw         cheers danarmdave
