I have put some clean diesel down the bores, I just ordered some parts from agri line, I'll show you them shortly and I started looking at what needs doing to the head and radiator, I'm going to empty the diesel out on Friday and heat the cylinder up and pore oil in the bores hoping it will expanded a bit and will help brake the seal between the rings and the liners!

When I was at school in darkest Sussex in the 1950s the school was "off grid" and had a single? cylinder Lister generator (start-o-matic?) . Presumably it was DC as there was a room full of glass tank accumulators - no recollection of the voltage. I seem to remember that it stood quite tall and had twin flywheels and a thermo-syphon cooling system that just lost heat from a 45 gallon sized drum mounted above it . This tank was a good source of hot water for melting "scotch glue" in the woodwork shop next door!

So, I've noticed the forum has a Stationary engine section, although it's for Petrol engines I guess I can post about my Diesels?
Not so long ago I restored a Lister CS12/2 that my Dad had started before he left this world, I thought I should finish what he had started a decade or more before. Sadly as he had left it in a stripped down state and partially exposed to the elements it involved a very thorough every part to pieces restoration. Over 18 months I restored the engine plus and alternator for it to drive, the set up is in memory of Dad who loved engines and was extremely knowledgable on electrics. I designed and fabricated a semi portable base for it all to sit on and it has now attended several rallies and been the power source at a few family parties.
Here she is as Dad left her:
Here are some of the components nearing the end of the restoration, I recall this was just after I reassembled the injector pumps :

Out at her first rally at Newby hall where she ran 16 hours solid on he first proper run, I think we ran somewhere around 32 hours in total at that rally:

And a quick video somebody took at Newby, she normally has 2000 Watts of lighting running plus a kettle or chip pan as well as all the mobile phones people bring to me to charge!:

A mate of mine down on the Sussex Coast (no not Mr Showman) has a large collection of stationary engines, mainly generators and battery charging sets, amongst which is a little set made by W.E.Conyers Ltd. I always fancied this little set and thought if one came along I would add it to the collection, as its 6 12 or 24 volt I could use it to demonstrate the 12 volt Tarpen equipment that I have.

Walking round the Sunday Sortout at Newark last November I spotted a Conyers set on the very last stall we looked at. It wasn't dear so was duly purchased and brought back to the camping field (see first photo below)

A few days later I popped down to see our mate Steve who owns the other Conyers set and found that not only did my set run with a bit of tinkering (and a bit of smoke - too much oil in the petrol) but that it and Steves set are only two serial numbers apart !!

To whom it may concern: I am selling off most of my parts and will still be offering my diaphragms OFF of Ebay. Some of the parts are listed on Ebay, some are not. I have not decided which units that I will be selling, but I have close to 40 and most are mint or restored and many are quite rare. If there is one that you have been looking for, please inquire and I will see what I can do. There won't be many bargains because of their condition and rarity, but I will deal a bit off of Ebay. Eventually they will go up for auction. Thanks, and you can email me at weber.joseph@sbcglobal.net     Joe

    Hello All,

As some of you will know I posted back earlier in 2015 saying that the cub cadet will have to sadly find a new home at the end of the year, well I know its the beginning of 2016 now but the time has come for me to part with this wonderful machine!

It was restored by myself in 2013 so has the odd mark in the paintwork by now but after a good wash it shines up like new! its mechanically sound, starts, runs and drives lovely. You've all seen plenty of pictures of it by now and some of you have even seen it in the flesh, or shall I say tin however I shall upload more photos below.

If anyone is interested send me a PM, we can have a chat. I'd rather it go to a good home on here than I would it go on eBay so thought I'd post this first! More pictures and info can be given if wanted.

If wanted I will also include the transport box, tipping trailer and anything else I may come across.

After last nights episode trying to improve bendys transmission, I ended up resorting to swapping back to belts. I'd also noticed that as well as sluggish starting, it occasionally made a horrible grind
So it was out with the engine, the starter is mounted low down on this k341 and you have to lift the engine out...

And here's why I had to play with, the starter is a 10 tooth one, with only 7.5 teeth...

the other is a high mount, and the other from the infamous acorn harvester at Ian's/Nigel's
Fortunately it's a low mounter too, and the teeth are good.
A few minutes later and voila, starts a million times better
Frozen fingers sent me inside for the night.
I was up first thing to defrost the car and thought I'd have a quick test drive.

It's pretty cruel outside, kitchen isn't too warm either
Bendy started first time, here's a few pics in the frost. I need more grip, might be digging the chains out...

Didn't get stuck this time either

This has been on the drawing board for a while now.
Started life as a sorry specimen from Surrey a few years ago.

Cue a few crates and a bit of balancing

    Some RSJ

    Lots of cutting

    Welding and drilling

    And a pivot was formed

    A bit more welding

    A drawing

    Some more welding and cutting

And the rear subframe was finished

Yes that is the one! hopefully mine will look like that soon, maybe in a few months! if you were to get one, try and get the Massey 35 the newer one with the 3 cylinder petrol engine, easy to work on and easier to start! but I like the diesel power!

I haven't had time to look at the tractor as I am really busy at work, everyone wants there plant machinery serviced and lawnmowers! so will hopefully look on sunday and update you all!

Hi Guy's, Nigel and I are in desperate need of a tin of International Harvester red enamel paint Code JFB6 to finish Project Horse Gut and wondered if anyone has a unused tin they would not only sell us, but stick it in the post also..

Now before you all say "look on FleaBay" it would seem that "International Harvester red" has been replaced with "International red"! which despite a local place tell us they are the same shade, they are not!

It's a bit hard to see from the state of the tin, but this is the paint we need..

And so you can see the colour difference (it may also stop some of you from making the same mistake Nigel and I did) International Harvester red on the left, International red on the right..

Yes there is one place selling the right stuff on Fleabay, but the delivery time is so long we could finish the entire build before it  turns up!

    Joe,
I have always wanted a vintage farm tractor like the classic grey Fergie as I drive one back in the early 80s on a farm in Sussex. Bring back a lot of memories. If I ever get a house with some land to play with I will get one along with my Bolens yo have a good play.
Is the one you got? It's a little unusual compared to the more usually seen Grey Fergies.

That's fine Stormin, There are a few around the UK and other areas of the world.

Thanks  , I put some burning oil down them instead of diesel because it works better as a lubricant as well, will try and turn it over slowly tomorrow with a spanner, if no movement then ill leave it for a couple more days to soak. I gave it a wash today and it has a lot of the original paint on it and in fairly good condition!

The FE-35 (Gold belly) are rare as may people don't have them as many didn't sell, In the time of the tractor being made people didn't like the colour scheme that harry Ferguson wanted gold and grey its said even his employees told him that people wouldn't and didn't like the colours, and preferred the TVO 3 cylinder petrol (Perkins engine that was in the old standard cars), so many people either bought the Massey 35, which was painted the Massey colours grey and red, or even the older types for example TED-20 or TE-20 that was produced before the FE-35 and other older models which were just painted grey. As that tractor is its worth a bit not running, but when it is it can be worth over £3000, they go down in value if you re-spray them as collectors such as myself like the original patina, but if its too far gone that its full of rust they you would buy new panels and re-spray.
Don't get the Ferguson FE-35 mixed up with the Massey MF35 different years (1955-1964)  and colours (Red and Grey) and they have a different values in money.

    Regards Joe

Just got tarp off and now trying to inflate tyres! amazing how they all went up and have stayed up.

this is the tractor out of the garden, without the bonnet as I was looking at the cylinders.

this is it loaded on the trailer, with another tractor! which I also picked up from there   a westwood t1200.

this is the side of the engine as it was when we took the tarp off, it has a bit of old crumbling carpet over the barrels.

this is it on the trailer again, from the back showing the westwood and the bonnet.

    hi all,

I have just got a gold 'n' grey fe35 Ferguson, it has a 4 cylinder diesel engine, It is completely original and hasn't been touch of over 20 years. it was left outside under a tarp for 12years, with the head off and the barrels open to the elements! the paint is fairly good. we went to move the tractor in the morning on Tuesday preparing are self's for a long day of moving it! but we inflated the tyres and to are amazement all the tyres inflated and have stayed up since, this was very shocking as they are all perished and have sat for over 12years in all weathers. we then put chains around the back axels and used a van to pull it out, it came out so easy I was so surprised. we then loaded it onto a trailer with a hand winch and it is currently on my yard awaiting its own shed to be build after new year!
I'm now very busy spraying everything with WD-40 and have put ceresin down the bores to free it up a bit, and now I'm cleaning the surface rust off the inside of the liners. I will have to investigate the gear box as it wont go into gear, I have freed up the H and Low lever which in-gages and disinigages, I think the little ball that  drops in to hold it in gear when driving is stuck and need moving.

I think its going to be easy to get running as they are good engines, I have all the parts which just need bolting on, I will see if the engine will turn over tomorrow after the wd-40 and ceresin has done its job! then if it does I will bolt everything together and get a new battery, filters and fuel as I say everything is completely original, with even the original tax disc holder, with original tax discs in!
