  1. I might have bit on this "Gem" had it been a 1962 Ride-a-matic
  2. I'm extremely hard on 4" and 4-1/2" grinders, mainly because I don't want to operate a heavy 6" or 7" grinder. I've suffered many cuts and abrasions from flying pieces
  3. OMG, I'm glad I wasn't sipping coffee when I read Andrew's reply, too funny
  4. The transport box is beautiful! Great job.
  5. RARE, worth thousands. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-BOLENS-850-ANTIQUE-COLLECTIBLE-TRACTOR-PROJECT-NEW-TIRES-NO-RESERVE-/391515264938?hash=item5b2820d7aa:g:fzsAAOSwu4BVjdjC
  6. Could have been worse. Great looking line up! The 70 looks of showroom quality, and Bendy looks capable of doing what larger tractors do.
  7. On a fantastic Olympic performance. Although you didn't medal in the 5 am gas station vandalism event we will give you a runner up trophy if you make this bloke a British subject.
  8. It looks very different without a deck
  9. And hence why its so hard to find info on your machine
  10. Looks great, are you going to add the stirrups?
  11. I am working with my County Youth Services to conduct field trip for disadvantaged youths to visit my tractor collection. I hope they will gain some knowledge of equipment and history, but most of all I hope they have a good time. It's probably not likely that any of these young men or women will become tractor enthusiast, but it is a opportunity for them to get away from their problems for a while. I'll let them drive and operated some tools in the garden and explain the working and use of the machines to them. I sent a video to the director to give them an idea of what to expect.
  12. Here is the manual for the 1974 Roper RT16T which had the Briggs twin in case you don't have it. See if this isn't the same, or different from yours. I haven't found the 1978 manual yet. My Roper/Sears manuals are a mess. BTW, I believe the Roper RT16T was made with the Briggs twin from 1974-1977 and the Roper GT16 with the Briggs was made in 1978 only. Roper_ RT-16T_T63241R1.pdf
  13. do you have a 917.XXXXXX number you could give me? Thanks
  14. It look like a good time all around. Is that a Briggs twin in the Roper? I thought they were Onan's
  15. So far I have been lucky as well, only one knick, but I put a nearly new Samsung Galaxy S6 64GB with three cases, two chargers and more for a buy it now price of 325.00 or a 200.00 starting bid. This donkey wrote me in a message and said he would offer 160.00 if I would pay for shipping. I was steamed and insulted. I blocked him and his ability to bid. One hour later a bidder makes a bid of 200.00 which knocks out the buy it now price. Funny thing the bidder had created his account just that day, maybe the same jerk and I banned the new bidder from making another bid as well and then made an addendum to my ad disallowing those with less than 2 eBay transactions from bidding and those with less than 10 eBay transactions need to send me verification of personal credit history. All items will be sent with tracking numbers and insured for the full value of the sale.
  16. ha, ha, a "gradely", I bet it does a superb job. I would like to give you a grade on grading a grade with a gradely.
  17. Great pictures of the show and the Cub
  18. Good article to read. I see were they suggest that sellers "absorb" bad transactions like they are made of money. As an Ebay seller I posted that if something was not paid for by a person intent on defrauding me that I enjoyed long road trips with my baseball bat and some time in county lockup. Have had no problems. http://andrewminalto.com/buyers-scammers-on-ebay/#comment-400812
  19. I don't think bearings are supposed to look like this and in my manual I could not find grass on the parts diagram
  20. I wasn't aware that Wheel Horse ( a D series owner only) tractors offered a vari-drive, or are you making one adapted for them? either way GREAT job!!!
  21. The middle spindle bearing were shot (an understatement), the others are probably worn badly as well. I got thee center spindle out and apart ready to install the new bearings. This is my fourth deck, the Bolens 1256 1476, and Wheel Horse D160 decks are done, I'll be making one good Allis deck out of the other two parts decks I have as well. That should give me ten running tractors with decks. and I have two more coming up in the queue to get decks under them, The Homelite T16H is running and has a good deck under her, I just need to finish the rear lift rod. The CASE 224 needs reassembled and the deck is already completely restored
  22. Finished the driveway weed removal and gravel redistribution. Wow, that's a long driveway. Most of the weed removal was accomplished by hand and hoe, glad to finally get some seat time on the D160
  23. I got the newly restored 42" mower deck under the Bolens 1256. Not to others, install the stub shaft on the deck before you put it under the tractor, you will save time and skin. I rebent the rear lift rod so it could hook to the front attachment pin for the front blade and snowblower lift. By doing so the rear lift goes up when the mower deck goes down, I don't know if it works that way on the other pin to the mower deck, man she mows smooth
  24. That show, like most American reality shows, is a huge farce. The producers stage 90 percent of the dealings on that show by negotiations prior to the taping. I break the ice as well as anyone, in 5 years I have found this man old Bolens tractors he wanted, an OH160 engine for his wife's tilling tractor, and mountains of technical manuals he had lost or were destroyed from his days as a dealer. Some people are self centered where they actually believe the world revolves around them, he is one. This guy has four 100 foot barns full of stuff, ten 53" foot semi trailer cargo units full, and still refuses to budge on anything. I don't have a problem with that, but he constantly asks people to do things for him by promising to let them in on some deals they want, but he never comes through. I keep telling people it wont happen, but many still bow and curtsy to him for the hope of a tiller or tractor. One day he will pass and there will be an auction, most stuff will bring scrap pricing. I won't be there, he has nothing I need or want anymore, I went out and found it elsewhere. It is what it is, and you reap what you sow. I don't feel bad for helping this man, I would do it again for another, but not him, not again. There are quite a few guys (couple from GTT) that I have either given stuff to or priced very, very low, because I believe it's the right thing to do, but these things must be a two way street.
  25. My Wheel Horse D-160 was enlisted to clean up edges and redistribute gravel from the crown to the ruts. Using the blade on an angle took care of the grass and edges. Starting with a path down the middle to pull down the crown it allowed gravel to fall into the ruts. I paid 330.00 for the box blade, 100.00 for the front blade, and 400 for the tractor. The front wheels are 3.75-10 steel wheels with a 4 ply 5.30-10 tire with tubes on a 4 on 4 cast iron trailer axle. The rears are 7.5-15 inch 5 bolt Wheel Horse rims with a 27x9.50-15 Duro Frontier tire. I could load the box blade clear to the top and still maintain half speed.
