I will do just that, i've had a quick look and found some but sadly the guy wasn't keen on shipping but there is time yet
That sounds like a very good idea! I'd like to see if I can source some genuine ones for the authenticity first but that is an excellent back up plan! Thanks

Thanks Neil!, That looks awesome! I like the use of the raider fender support thingy as a front bumper. Its been a while since I restored the C-121 that I bought from you and have been itching to get another Wheel Horse, I'm currently trying to source some fenders and then the next task will be to make a rolling chassis, need to narrow some wheels first
-
Its been a long time since I restored my last Wheel Horse so I thought it was time for another challenge. I have long wanted a Wheel Horse round hood tractor but as they are rare in the UK I thought I would build my own. Whilst browsing that well know auction site the other day I saw that someone was selling a Lawn Ranger hood and so I placed a bid and won it , since that and the fenders are about the only parts we can't make or easily source I was very happy. So here is the build thread, as I am at university this project is going to be a summer project and I am hoping some of you fellow members will be able to help me out with measurements and maybe some parts.
Here is a picture of what i'm hoping to build, i'm not sure whether it will be a 704 or a 654 yet, probably the one with the easiest engine to source.
First of all, does anyone know what thickness/ gauge of metal was used for the hood stand/ sheet metal work?
Thanks Ewan

Hi Alain, its the same model, we've had it for a couple of years and personally I think they work great, take a little bit of effort to refill with the trimmer wire but all round a great tool.
-
Just a little update, after months of driving the tractor at shows and on our land etc. I noticed that the seat is very uncomfortable on rough land and so I bought one of these seat covers. I am very pleased, very well made and very comfortable!

I would love to buy this, all the good tractors are always too far away
-
I would guess so as the Hobbies company made different products and advertised them in the magazines.
-
My grandma has one of these fret saws in her garage, my great uncle used to buy the Hobbies Magazines weekly and the Annuals, many of which are now in my possession as well as the model plans. He used to make model boats with it.

Very cool piece of history you have there, nice to see it being restored

I bought Duro HF257 tri ribs from here £15.60 each and mine came with tubes, i've used them on two tractors and highly recommend them.
This photo shows what they look like

Erm the yellow I used is JCB yellow

He better not be using my paint!

I think it would be a bit hard to find one

Thats awesome!
During the summer I started making a 1/10th scale Cub Cadet, not sure it could be driven though.
-
Thanks all! Due to being at university now I don't have a lot of time for new projects but i'm sure there may be some updates at christmas!
-
I once spilt transmission oil on some Yorkshire stone flags and boiling water, washing up liquid and a scrubbing brush worked for me. Good luck!
-
Earlier this week I got round to painting the wheel weights I bought off Charlie earlier this year, I have decided to put these wheel weights on because they are cub cadet ones, the ones that came with my tractor will be painted white so some one else in the family can use them on their tractor.
-
Thanks Richard! Next on the list is making a few different attachments for it including a water pump powered off the front pto, I'll have to put up a rebuild thread some time. Unfortunately some of these projects will have to wait until christmas as I am starting uni in late September
-
Thanks Alain, I've put a lot of time and effort into both the box and the tractor
Thanks guys, unfortunately the inside of the box already has a few scrapes.
Cheers Iain!
