  1. Initially we said we would focus on the engine of the Bolens 900 because we could not understand what was stopping the clutch from working. The aim being that a working engine would help diagnose the clutch issues.

    We now have a better idea of the clutch issues so we have changed direction and are now investigating the clutch.

  2. A quck update on the Bolens 900. This is going to be an interesting project as it looks like a previous owner has done some creative and mainly unhelpful repairs in the past

    Another great video Joseph and Iain.  I like the footage of the transmission on the ramp as that make it very clear what you are doing.:thumbs:

    I really dig those two RAMs :smoke: I need another one to scratch my itching.....

    I look forward to updates on the G14's tranny .

    RAM's are great tractors. Hopefully an update on the G14 tonight

  4. We are currently waiting for the delivery of some parts for our G10 project so we decided to get another tractor out of storage. I think we picked the wrong one as it took us two days of moving around to get to it.

    This G14 was last used in 2009 when it was our main grass cutting tractor. The transmission locked up and it was put in storage for a little while, which turned out to be 10 years.

  5. Some of you guys may remember the Bolens stash that we acquired about 2-1/2 years. The tractor that appeared to be in the best condition was a blue painted Bolens 1054 which looking like it needs very little to get working. We got that assesment wrong as it has taken us a long time and lots of new and replacement parts to get it running. We still have a few more jobs to do but we would like to use it a bit first and see what other problems appear.

    Video of some of the work and the test drive

    Alan, please pass on our regards to John and he may enjoy the video

  6. Tractor on fire :omg::jaw:

    We rebuilt the fuel system and fitted a new fuel pipe on the D160. We then connected a new battery and started it up. It ran well for a couple of minutes, then smoke and flames started coming from under the battery tray. We switched the tractor off and investigated. The regulator had shorted out and ignited debris. It was a bit of a shock but fortunately only a new regulator is required, unless it has killed the stator.
