I got a few more garden tractors out for service/repair, still have 12 (14, don't tell the wife) in the barn and shop. Notice the Allis 416 with the 4 speed hydro or Shuttle Shift transmission. The last photo is of the 50 lb Allis wheel weights that came with the 400 series. These wheel weights are super hard to find, I have only seen one set in a picture. I put a coat of paint on them to install on the 416 hydro with the tiller, it needs the extra weight in back.

I collected the 1050 from the lock up this morning and bought it back to my house where I gave it a a quick wash to get rid of the grime. I drained the transmission oil and it wasn't as bad as I thought. After a an hour, I used my air line to blow out any excess oil into the container. It was replaced with new oil. I think the previous owner, a mechanic, serviced it from time to time. I emptied the fuel tank of cider vinegar and was impressed with how clean the inside of the tank was. I rinsed it out with cold water and then added carbonate of soda to neutralise the acids. I also rinsed the tank with petrol for good measure. The tank was installed with a new fuel line. I poured in fresh petrol and cleaned the spark plug and ensure everything was in place, I turned the key. Unfortunately, the battery was weak even though the engine turned over slowly. I am now charging the battery over night and hopefully I can fire up the engine to warm her up in order to drain the engine oil.

Amongst our collection of various machines we have three Wheelhorses and up until yesterday one Cub Cadet, a model 100...

Looking on a certain website I spotted this machine, Wendy my better half was keen on bidding for it, so bid I duly did...

It's a Cub Cadet 128, with a 12hp Kohler, these tractors were made between 1971 and 1974 so I need to have a look at the
    spec plate...

It needs a few bits like proper front wheels and the steering sorted out but I think with a bit of graft it could be quite a machine...

We have owned a Cub Cadet 100 for a few years after saving it from being turned into a racing lawn mower

The tractor actually belongs to my better half Wendy who lets me drive it occasionally

Here's some photos of its outings this year, Nutley Windmill, Smallholders Show and Rural Past Times so far, Tractorfest next weekend and then it hibernates for the Winter !!

My Wheel Horse D-160 was enlisted to clean up edges and redistribute gravel from the crown to the ruts. Using the blade on an angle took care of the grass and edges. Starting with a path down the middle to pull down the crown it allowed gravel to fall into the ruts. I paid 330.00 for the box blade, 100.00 for the front blade, and 400 for the tractor. The front wheels are 3.75-10 steel wheels with a 4 ply 5.30-10 tire with tubes on a 4 on 4 cast iron trailer axle. The rears are 7.5-15 inch 5 bolt Wheel Horse rims with a 27x9.50-15 Duro Frontier tire. I could load the box blade clear to the top and still maintain half speed.

Finished the driveway weed removal and gravel redistribution. Wow, that's a long driveway. Most of the weed removal was accomplished by hand and hoe, glad to finally get some seat time on the D160

I got the newly restored 42" mower deck under the Bolens 1256. Not to others, install the stub shaft on the deck before you put it under the tractor, you will save time and skin. I rebent the rear lift rod so it could hook to the front attachment pin for the front blade and snowblower lift. By doing so the rear lift goes up when the mower deck goes down, I don't know if it works that way on the other pin to the mower deck, man she mows smooth

This one is a bit of a work in progress, so it may be sometime before it gets finished.
So, started of with half a rolling chassis from a Yardman AN5175.

After a couple of hours cleaning and stripping it looked like this.

Removed rear section of chassis as it isnt required, found a 12hp engine to power it and a 42in deck.

The white masking tape sections are where the out riggers will go to carry the wheels. The yellow handle is where the drawbar will go.

One of the out riggers attached and a lift handle to adjust the deck height made.

This is as far as i have got. The swan neck is fully adjustable to allow transporting behind the tractor or cutting to the side.

Next step will be to find a garden leaf vacuum to help blow the grass up the delivery spout. Mount a battery, make a dash pannel, get a better fuel tank, and tidy it up a bit with a few body pannels.
Well that it for now, might be a while before any more updates as im having problems finding a leaf vacuum at a decent price.

minky reacted to Triumph66 in Picked up another Bolens; another 600
A tip off from my mate Chris about a 600 for sale with a spare engine and another set of tyres got my pulse racing. The seller, fortunately for me, have misspelt the tractor hence why I got it for a very cheap price. I said a year ago that Bolens 600s are rare as hen's teeth in the UK which is why I bought one from the USA which is now docked at Southampton, U.K. which will be delivered sometime this week. It's strange that I bought two 600 in the UK within a few months of each other......

The seller of the U.K. one, bought it from a nursery in Honiton, Devon some 20 years ago with the intention of restoring it. It has sat in his barn in Berkshire since then. My good friend Chris got a friend, Mark, (he got more than one..) who lives a stone's throw from the seller and is happy to help me out with collecting it from the seller. Chris and I have agreed that he can have the spare B&S engine for his 600 project as he will at some collect it from Mark. At some point, Chris will deliver the 600 and my 850 down to Devon to collect his 600 that I collected for him a few months back.

It's great that the UK Bolens Boys are happy to help each other out and make this hobby more enjoyable with like minded individuals plus saving some hard earnt dough too.

The US 600 will be delivered to me sometime this week so I will have two 600s in my collection by a quirk of fate.

    Happy Days!

Yes interested in the tyres. Will message you.
I quite like the way this has been done... the paintwork is generally very good. Has been well stored for 15 years and I think it looks 'just right'

    Few question....
where would I find engine number and chassis number?

Also there is no spark? Where should my first port off call be to look for

    Thanks all
