  1. That should keep you busy for a while Koen.. Which bit's are loose in the sump?
  2. Great work Matt, the engine will look better than new by the time your done What did you use to clean the piston up? It looks like new..
  3. I will be there Chris, if all goes to plan I will be bringing 2 machines I can highly recommend Rural Pastimes Guy's, it's a very relaxed show with plenty of working space and a great mix of machines, so come along and support the horti section
  4. Thanks mate, shockingly the brake even works
  5. Thanks Iain, yep firing her up is a real mojo booster, it's good to hear life in her though after firing her up I can't hear much I expect your wife was saying "What the hell is that noise"? Or something along those lines It certainly was a great day, thanks again for all your help mate :thumbs; I don't think it really sunk in until I started to edit the video.. Then the manic grin broke out More like William Wollard which is better than being the first ever Top Gear presenter Well, after getting distracted by a lathe, moving the workshop about, a random tree and making lot's of noise Thursday, I'm finally cracking on with the front brakes again and get the calipers mounted.. Add a bit of metal, that bit under my finger.. Throw in a couple of triangles to put some strength back, here's one of em. Garnish with a couple of long bolts including having to drill through the kingpin pivot spindle thingy! Tack welded together. A fully welded up caliper bracket.. I think don't think it will fall apart in a hurry One bolted on caliper, one to go.. Yes I will be cleaning up the welds at some point.. And yes the wheel does still fit
  6. Very loud.... You might say we got a bit of attention But don't worry, I will try and have a full exhaust fitted for your visit It will be a while yet until the first doughnut, but that moment is getting ever closer Thanks Norm... We were looking at people who were looking to see what the loud noise was That's a great comparison Andrew Why Not is almost a living thing.. It will be once she has her gas tank fitted and wired up properly. Well spotted Chris Some of the wiring was starting to get a little hot as it had fallen on the exhaust!
  7. Hi Colin, welcome to MOM. I can't help you with your Mountfield part I'm afraid, but there are plenty of helpful chaps here and someone might have what you need.. It would be cool to see some photo's of you Mountfield and Wheel Horse

    C-120 refurb.

Nice work Norm, it must feel good to be at the painting stage.. It won't be long now until it's finished
  9. Evening all, well after the shock of finding a fully grown tree outside my workshop when I arrived! I started to sort out this mess of wiring.. And by the end of the day, the Beast has awakened

    wheelhorse keo-matic

Well, that's a new Wheel Horse on me.... You learn something every day
  11. Howdo all, well I started the morning working on the brake caliper mountings on Why Not, but the got slightly distracted! Would you look at all that space!! I could fit the GT and 3 more Wh's in The extra space was made by moving a pile of wood and my tool chest, and also by turning the bench around that Why Not is on... The reason for the space making.. You can just see it in front of the window.. Yep, that's right.. The lathe I was selling is no longer for sale So.. Why the change of heart? The big problem I had with it was/is the shaft at the bottom with the pulleys in has some serious play.. Way too much to make it usable.. But this morning I was looking at it thinking I should really give driving the lathe straight from the motor a whirl.. So with the very worn drive chain removed, I threw a belt on to see how it went.. Not the best of photo's but the lathe can take some quite serious deep cuts, far deeper than my old Southbend lathe.. Quite a nice finish on this bit of bar as well.. So the plan is to use this lathe (a TW Monoturn) for taking the bulk of material off any turning that needs to be done and then finishing the details off on the Southbend.. I will be fitting a cooling system as the bigger the slices the more the metal gets hot...
  12. Got mine too thanks Kev, roll on the show, it was such a great time last year
  13. Nope, no D Andrew. Just a GT and a WN
  14. Mark will gift wrap and send you the gunk from the end of the sump plug Chris
  15. Very nice, a "D" is on my want list
  16. Yep, that's my old 6x6.. I agree Andrew, it would be nice if someone in the "family" bought it..
  17. That would be my guess too, sump drain plug.
  18. Hi Rob, welcome to MOM, happy you like it here.. You did well, managing to buy a Bolens before Andrew (Triumph66) buys them all There are plenty of great Bolens guys here to help you out with advice
  19. Another vote for all terrain tyres here, been using them for years now, they even gave me discount when I bought the tyres and tubes for the 6x6
  20. Thanks Chris, your not the first person to mention club hammers Thanks Tom, seeing Why Not's true stance was the reason for getting her off the bench, She looked very tall on the bench and very low when off Thanks Ben, it will be good to catch up with you again A bit more progress, the second brake disc and spacer/hub adapter thingy have been made and welded to the hubs... Brake caliper in place but not fitted yet. Almost full lock.. One thing bugged me with the outside photo's... The fender pan looked to be leaning towards the back!! But with a bit of box section wedged under the back a much meaner aggressive look emerged... I guess I have a few tweaks to do in this department
  21. Thanks Norm. Thanks Andrew, yeah it has been a busy couple of weeks, but it's good to get one of the big parts done. Thanks Mark, yep she does look quite mean Thanks Iain, even more "better" to come over the following months. Thanks mate, I think we both had equally as big grins on our faces when we rolled her outside The Dynamic Duo
  22. Don't worry Iain, it's not giving me any ideas.. A Ford V4 engine.. Nasty!!!
