Is the Showman there overnight tonight? I never realized quite how much my GT means to me until I went back to the shack and it wasn't there!
Is that another Wh with a stack that I see on the back of the truck?

The Martin 3 wheeled little trucks used an Albion 3 speed box, the clutch pack was multi plate and was much thicker than pictured above.
-
I like the look of that saw Nate, a small and neat machine... I've got a slightly bigger one and it's very handy for cutting through the thick stuff
-
I have to say George, that looks a very scenic place to be working
Just wondering if there's a way of building the barrow and JCB into one machine
-
Good luck with the missus Andrew, just tell her it's not old, it's stylish
-
It will join without the half link, it just makes the chain too small!
-
Er... a bit of a strange day with this project... I found I had quite a strange chain problem!!
I went to put the rear right hand side chain back on today, when I fitted it up I found it was too long and the chain tensioner pushed the bottom bit of the chain into the top bit..
No problem I thought, just take the half link out the chain and all will be cool.. Er... No!
With the half link removed the chain only just fitted on, but it was tight.. So tight in fact the chain tensioner was wedged down against the inside of the outrigger!!
So with the half link in the chains too long, without it it's too short!!! I'm stumped!!!
-
A slight change of plan, I'm now taking the GT-14+2 instead of the 6x6.
-
Just sprockets I bored out on the lathe to fit skateboard bearings Mark.. Not sure wher I bought them from but I'd guess the Bearing Boys.
-
8hp!! I like the sound of that
-
I'm looking forward to this show, it will be my first time.. It will be nice to "work" the 6x6, I think Nigel has a plough that will fit the 3 point
-
Thanks Richard, it's looking like a few showers at the weekend, but plenty of time for that to change yet
Good news chaps.. Despite me welding the middle of the outrigger in upside down, everything bolted up as is should
The busted bearing in the chain tensioner thingy proved more of a problem to sort however! Who would of thought the outer bearing case from a skateboard bearing could be so hard!
In the end I had to attack it with different grinding stones on a drill!
A bit of damage to the sprocket, but not enough to stop a new bearing being fitted.
Only the chains and fender to fit, then I can fire her up and see how she steers
It's been a while since the last 6x6 video, so here's the latest.. Enjoy.

Here you are Norm.

Where the hell did this come from!! That's a nut's idea aimed solely at getting us to pay more! Reading the article it's say that NFU expects it to cost about £100 a year! Now correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure I've just read above that it's only costing people a little over £30 a year with NFU??
How would they police it anyway? Will we have to watch the streets for "Mower detection vans", that have a couple of blokes in the back trying to match an engine sound they have heard coming from behind a house, to a list of "known" mower engine sounds?
And what about those "project" mowers that may not run or are not even bolted together? Are we going to have to get insurance on them just in case some "low life" breaks into your workshop and hurts him/her self while running past your project that's up on the bench and hasn't moved under it's own power in years???
What's next? Insurance on leaf blowers just in case a leaf you have blown manages to find it's way in next doors window, makes the owner sneeze and knocks over an expensive vase??
I remember reading a few winters back that you shouldn't clear the snow off the path in front of your house just in case someone slips and trys to sue you!!!
The world is going mad I tell you !!!
-
Even if you never use it Sten, it would look great hanging on a workshop wall
Now, I could continue with an obvious joke.. But I'm nut going to
-
If work continues at this pace then it looks like Cinders will be going to the ball.. Ok, maybe not a ball but something much more fun.. Rural Pastimes at Sedlescombe this coming weekend
The outrigger cleaned up, red oxided and the middle sprocket cover trimmed to fit...
The inner mount needs about an hours more welding done, most of that will be waiting for it to cool down again after welds! Then a quick coat of paint before bolting everything back together again
-
That looks very well made Ben. What year is it?
-
I think the handbrake will have to have a switch built in to the seat to operate it... Clench controlled
-
Like Sten I use myHermes for anything up to 15kg and I've never had a problem with them..
For heavier stuff I use this bunch... http://www.postagesupermarket.com/index.php Amazingly cheap!! (UPDATE DO NOT USE THIS BUNCH AS I HAVE UNFORTUNATELY FOUND OUT!)
And for anything that need to go on a pallet I use this bunch http://www.collectmyparcel.com/pallet-delivery/
-
Hi Max, this link may help you out a bit.. http://www.wfmfiles.com/download/Tecumseh-Peerless_Motion_Drive_System_-_Transmissions_&_Differentials%28691218%29.pdf
I do have a 2300 sitting under my bench getting I the way. I've never never used it so I can't help you out on the differences between the 1200 and 2300.. I know the 2300 is a 4 speed with a strange shift pattern!
-
If the engine fit's, then fit it
A small Kohler would be more in-keeping looks wise, but at the end of the day Charlie it's your tractor and you should do whatever needs doing to get it up and running again... I quite like Nigel's diesel engine idea
-
Are we going to see a video of it in action Ben?
-
It's a shame you didn't keep the TK Neil, she would of made a fine Horse Hauler
Back in my younger days I remember seeing TK's everywhere, these days they are only at shows or have been converted to horse boxes..
-
I'm not sure I could find two people who would be "willing" to act as passengers! I know I wouldn't want to be on it unless I was the one in charge of the controls
I did think of brake steering at the back for "Wheelie mode", I could still do it using the Reliant's handbrake
I was having a look around the net yesterday and found a photo of the wheels Doug has that have been banded.. I think they would look quite good with a chrome hubcap, but they need a bit more "deep dish" look
