Done a bit more today, made a new wiring loom replaced the rubber bushing in the fuel tank, cleaned out the carb, replaced the solenoid and made new battery leads and new fuel pipe.
Had it running in the shed on stands for ages and ran it through the gears, all seems good.
I'm at the point now where I've got to decide ,,, do i bolt it back together and offer it for sale or do i do a complete resto job then sell it

Hi Martin, you won't go far wrong with the C series, good robust tractor. Once you got one and have the model number you can download a manual from the Toro site, spares are easy to get new and secondhand and Kohler engines are the best (in my opinion). Silencer,s are pretty expensive and batterys run at about £50, the most thing they suffer from is badly maintained by their owners. The tyres are always cracked and perished but last for ages, just look at the trackrods as they are always worn and they suffer from water in the transmission, just drain and refill with the correct oil, just give it a good service and grease up and clean the deck when you finish mowing, anything else give us a shout, and good luck with it. Chris

Thanks Andrew, the casing i had in stock and the needle rollers and oil seals came from BRT bearings in Brighton, they had them in stock
-
Well its all back in the tractor, had it running and been through the gears and all seems to be doing what it should. Left it running for a bit in gear to circulate the oil
-
At the end of the day I've ended up with a working 3 speed tranny with new bearings and seals, all I've got to do is refit it and fill it with oil
-
Don't go on numbers on transmissions, all the casings i have are stamped 6941 but underneath there is a small number 1, 2, and 3, 1 and 2 are 3 speed 1" axles only difference is which hole the brake shaft comes out of, and 3 is the same except it has 1 1/8" axles. All very confusing when you've got 4 boxes in bits, anyway heres some photos, you work it out
-
Well done Matt, runs well, i see your dog made a hasty exit in the first video
-
One 3 speed tranny back together with new needle bearings and oil seals , and the best bit is that it selects all the gears.
I'll get the hubs and pulleys back on and back in the tractor tomorrow
-
I would love to have been there when she fired up Matt, love the ID tag and those rivetts, wow !
-
I've got 4 in bits, i need one for the tractor on the bench and one for a 69 Commando 7 and if i can make up another for a spare will be good, but i need at least 2
-
-
Finally got my bearings and seals to day so hopefully get them pressed in the casings tomorrow
-
-
Yeh you could be right Koen, i take some photos of my tractor in the daylight, just trying to help out
-
Looking at it this far, i guess another day will be worth the wait Matt
-
Just got it from my kohler book, I'll do photos of the tractor in the morning
-
-
Another positive day Norm, its coming together nicely
-
Well done Tom, not many of those around
-
Well done Nigel, looks fun to drive, what are you going to use it for ?
-
Another day on the trannys, out of 4 i have found 2 casings with good ball bearings in and have cleaned them both up in the parts washer, ordered all new needle bearings and oil seals from my local bearing shop.
They have them all in stock at another branch and i will have them Wednesday, ive made a new gasket so at a standstill until they arrive
-
It would have to go in before the bearing as the other end is smaller, all you can do is what you did and use an enclosed bearing as against the open type fitted
-
-
Oh thats nice, looks so good in black and silver and a photo to look at
