Front mounted sickle bar

Recommended Posts

Very nice       I need a sickle mower in my life even though I have no need for one :D

It looks like it was an easy fit on the Norlett ?

Glad to see someone has achieved this conversion. I've been chewing the fat over modifying one of those to fit on a Garden Tractor for ages.

I had doubts about the Cutter width in relation to the Track width, but look's ok. Nice job

Richard,

the bar is just 6 inches too short for a standard track wheel horse, it would be perfect on a short frame or round hood..

Neil,

The picture is actually in action if you look carefully :D

My sickle bar Conversion..Getting it ready to clean up and paint.

Had it working as Meadowfield  (Mark) showed earlier.

Bit narrower than My Norlett ... But could extend it either side in needed.

Will post pictures of if working when done painting... I hope..  post-143-0-20171500-1409499879_thumb.jpg

Hi,

Great conversion! I got my hands on one of these sickle bars the other night for the grand total of £10, I look forward to seeing it all painted up and mounted in your tractor. What is the width of yours? I know there were three different widths made: 18", 24" and 36".

Tom

Hi there Tom and Co.

The sickle bar width is only about 24"

Just painted it now..  Going away for a few days..So when I get back I will fit together and slot on.

Then show it working.(problem being no long grass about).

Made it to fit on the quick hitch...30 seconds and its on and away. :fingerscrossed:  :fingerscrossed:  :fingerscrossed:

Norlett Sickle Bar Cutter.

Just painted and fit on tractor....Seems to work ok...Looking for some longish grass to try out properly.

When we go to our next show we should have a nice cut area....I hope..

Might  need a rake and baler...If its to long..

Might be next job making a rake... :fingerscrossed:  :fingerscrossed:  :fingerscrossed:  :fingerscrossed:
