A new Rowcrop Joins The Wheelhorse Shed

Bought this the other day, thought it would look good displayed next to my Rowcrop.

Its a 1950 Triang Major.

  Now that's a good find. Fit a steering wheel and I know some ones great grandson who would like that.

I doubt it Andrew as I haven’t got a steering wheel made yet.

No problem Norm.  He has a week before RPT.  Plenty of time.   On second thought's, with all those parts he's probably forgotten how it goes back together.

I haven’t forgot Alan, I took photos and made notes.

Had a few hours spare so I’ve stripped all the parts to bare metal and sprayed with primer.

That greeny blue on the wheels looks very close to some Halfords paint I am using at the moment, Rover Kingfisher Blue

Got a drawing of the steering wheel, just need to make some sort of jig to bend the 3/8 bar round.

Found a few bits in stock from Johns, a 1/4 bit of plate , a length of 3/8 bar and a couple of old cam belt idler pulleys, ive used an old brake drum that happened to be the right size and had a nice lip on to bend to.

After a clean up with the grinder and spray with primer I transferred my blueprint on to it.

With a few clamps and lots of heat ive got this far.

  Put a couple of pegs in the plate by the cam wheels. They'll help hold things in place when you bend round the cam wheels. Some either side of the large radius in three places will help as well..

Managed to get it finished this afternoon, I’m quite pleased with it considering what I’m using to hand.
