the showman 4,074 #1 Posted June 1, 2014 A fellow member gave me the nod on this little engine on the bay, nobody bid on it and I won it for the starting price (£31). As a few of my Wheelhorse's have this engine, I thought it would be a handy spare 1 amcrules00 reacted to this

the showman 4,074 #5 Posted June 1, 2014 Havnt had a chance to look at it yet, I knew it had no spark but it turns over ok and has plenty of compression, what ever is in the fuel tank smells funny so I guess its been standing for a while
pmackellow 2,738 #6 Posted June 1, 2014 Worth a look then Mr Showman

the showman 4,074 #9 Posted August 15, 2014 Fell over this today when I opened the shed door and thought I would have a quick look. I took the head off and wire bushed the head and valves up, the bore and piston (std) look in good shape with no marks or ridges. bolted it all back together, popped the cover off the points and gave them a good clean and re-gaped them, With a few pulls away she went, no rattles or smoke, so very pleased, just need to build another tractor to put it in

Terry M 7 #16 Posted November 4, 2015 Those little Kohler k91s are some tough little engines...have picked up a few myself. Just wish rebuild parts weren't SO expensive.
HeadExam 1,783 #17 Posted November 6, 2015 I'm not sure how long they produced the K91T(retractable starter), but that's a fairly late model being manufactured in 1981.
Terry M 7 #18 Posted November 10, 2015 I just noticed that it appears to have a Tecumseh recoil mounted on it....
Stormin 4,458 #19 Posted November 10, 2015 Something I've just noticed as well. I can see why my C81 is so noisy. The exhaust has had the bit with the small bore pipe cut off and replaced with the large bore outlet.
Wristpin 400 #20 Posted November 10, 2015 I just noticed that it appears to have a Tecumseh recoil mounted on it.... Think that recoil is a bought in unit, possibly Fairbanks Morse, and appears on a variety of engines. 1 HeadExam reacted to this

Wristpin 400 #22 Posted November 10, 2015 The same goes for the recoil unit with the cast alloy casing that appears on the larger Kohlers and Tecumsehs.
HeadExam 1,783 #23 Posted November 10, 2015 I think recoil units like coils, points, and magnetos (yes some kohlers had them), were outside buy/vendors.
