the missus got back from town this morning and told me about a bloke selling seeders and stuff so i promptly went down for a look, walked away with a douglas inter-plant hoe and a rather crude old ratchet set thrown in for good measure

Well its all back in the tractor, had it running and been through the gears and all seems to be doing what it should. Left it running for a bit in gear to circulate the oil

Hi all. Just a update on the scythe I got from Chris. I have got the engine all up and running also the spare one is running. They both just need painting now. New blades are fitted, new tubes in tyres and all parts under coated. Have spoke about getting decals/transfers for the wheels as Allen Oxford was painted on these and not a raised casting like on my ts model. Will put some pics up soon. Paul

One 3 speed tranny back together with new needle bearings and oil seals , and the best bit is that it selects all the gears. I'll get the hubs and pulleys back on and back in the tractor tomorrow

Well she wasn't a Hog or a Hot Rod, but I brought the old girl anyway, oh yeah, I brought the tractor too

Not having much luck with the trannys, the one i was going to fit won't go into 3rd gear now and i cant get the hubs off to open it up and have a look. Removed the tranny from the tractor, got the hub off one side and the other came out with the shaft and the needle bearing is shot, started drilling out the towbar pin and the drill went up in smoke. So at the moment I've got 3 transmissions scattered across the workshop floor and the chard remains of a drill

You do only end to drill through half the casing to split it though... Then press the rest out when you have split it

the bore isn't scored nor is there any massive wear marks - so it will stay standard. However the piston has quite a bit of sideways movement and the oil ring is non-existent! Given it's been split at some point and the gaskets are junk, I just want to stop it burning oil and dribbling, spitting out of every orifice. A 550cc displacement causes a lot of crank pressure and pushes oil out of places you'd never imagine. I once took the dipstick out when it was running and It's not going to be a massive worker, more of a show piece - but it certainly will be put through it's paces and I will test the whole 16hp
