    MINI GARDEN - DOE.

Started off as a broken 4 wheel drive toy truck. The chassis was cut in half, the axle units forming the basis of each tractor. The wheels from the truck were used on the trailer. The tractor wheels were from another broken toy. Well, it was broken after I had butchered it. Radio controlled. Total length 30". Mainly made from plastic sheet, bits of brass and numerous odds and ends. The pivot moves in two directions, allowing articulation. Each tractor has it's own small electric motor, the radio gear and battery's are in the trailer. Not as powerful as I had hoped, but will climb over small lumpy bits. A pig to drive in reverse though, as the trailer decides it want's to do it's own thing. The name ALJO, is a combination of mine Alan, and my mate's John. GAR- DOE is meant to be a garden tractor size doe.. And in case anyone is wondering the 6V means 6 Volt. which is the drive power. Just needs a suitable sized driver.

    Ransomes MG2 number 137

Today I began dismantling 137 the oldest known MG2 motor cultivator dating from 1936. Amazingly every bolt has come undone without any brutal activity other than a big bar on one of the implement frame pivots. Some bolts have obviously never been touched in 80 years, once the bolts are out the holes are still shiny metal, quality stuff theses old Ransomes. I spent an hour or so last week giving every bolt a squirt of plus gas and it has obviously paid off. The final drives are all in good order and should just need a clean up and new seals, the drive rollers are both shot so I will cut them off with a plasma cutter and weld on new rings. Although rusty the body has very few pits, I think I will power sand it rather than shot blast, there are a couple of wear scars where the tracks have cut into the body, I am going to cut these out and weld in donor steel from the half MG2 that came with it. Two of the load rollers are good and still full of oil, the other two need new bushes.

    Bolens G14

Over the weekend I gave the G14 a diesel bath followed by hitting it with the pressure washer. It is so much nicer to work on now but the state of the grass where I gave it a wash was the subject of much discussion with the boss. Progress on the G14 has been slowed by work commitments and I got distracted by buying and collecting another H16 . Picture from the advert Tonight I had a relaxing hour in the workshop on the G14 fitting the exhaust, engine panel work, throttle/choke cables and a few other jobs. Thanks to Norm's reminder I took the plug out of the exhaust pipe first I still need to fit the fuel tank and pipes, straighten and fit the hood, fit new battery cables, repair some more damaged wiring and refit the PTO and body panels. I have also bought some new front lights for it. Iain
