Hitched the rear discharge deck to the C-125 Wednesday, to give the green and verges a trim. To my surprise, I couldn't get the drive belt to tension properly. The mule drive adjuster was reaching it's limit before the belt was tight. It was fine last week.

As I was in Carlisle yesterday I went to get a new belt. It had to be ordered but came today as promised. Now the standard size is 1/2" x 98", but as the used belt was so slack, I ordered a 1/2" x 97".

So on the new belt went. Only that wouldn't tighten either.  Oh sugar! Something somewhere is not right.

Had a good look around. Lifted the deck. Lowered the deck. Twiddle this. Twiddled that. Had another look at the lift arm. A look at the Tach-o-Matic and.....

Oh you thick b****r!  The bar that holds the front of the deck wasn't located properly. It was lying flat on the deck, instead of being upright and the fork located where it should have been. Drop deck, release the Tac-o-matic, lift bar, lift deck, lock Tach-o-Matic, adjust belt and off we go a mowing.

The times I've had that deck on and off over the years. Practically every time I mow for cleaning afterwards. How I missed the front bar wasn't located properly I don't know.

Today I finally applied the decals to the fuel tank, something ive been dying to do
for a few weeks now, but wanted to get the bonnet refitted in order to line
    everything up.
When it came to connecting up the fuel lines, as ive been struggling to find some
one to make new ones up at a reasonable cost and the damage to the old ones
was only asthetic, I tried using some heat shrink tube. It seems to of worked a treat.

Did a little more to this engine yesterday..... New coil fitted, engine timed, blanked off 'kick start' bolt holes, cleaned and painted exhaust, fitted air shroud, tank brackets and tank....... Just needs the HT lead and the carb that I can't find!!!

Popped along to my local rally in Monmouth this morning.
The amount of exhibits on display seems to be declining
each year sadly, but there was still quite a bit to see.
I even spotted an old Cavalier in the carpark. Its the first
one apart from mine that ive seen on the road for several
    years!

The rally went well and the weather stayed fine, but a little breezy. Breezy being an understatement. I now have a wind burnt mush.

Up early Saturday morning and arrived at the site at 6-30am. Trailer loaded with the C-81, C-121 and stuff for the auction. I was going to take the Teagle Hedge Trimmer but couldn't fit it on the trailer.
Saturday was spent unloading auction things as people brought them in and eating bacon rolls. Had a couple of pints in the bar then in bed by 10pm. Bed being a padded bench in the club mobile office.
Sunday up a 5am and off to unlock gates and take up my post at the exhibitors gate for 6am. The cars and motorcycles entered by another gate further on. Locked the gate at 10am as that was the time the show started.
Had a quick look at auction stuff that had arrived that morning, but nothing really caught my eye. For the first time for a while, I managed to have a good look round. So some photo's.

Phil Murrell, Wendy and I put on a small display at Hailsham Wyevale Garden Centre today

We were joined by one of the Garden Centre employees and his collection of petrol cans plus a couple of cars, a rather nice Rover P6 and an equally smart early 90's BMW 3 Series.

Back in 99 and 2000 I had a g reg and a h reg hatch cavalier, but due to my age and insurance they were only 1.6's still went well and averaged 42 mpg. At present I've got a m reg 2 ltr cavalier, a one owner from new and only 46 k with full main dealer service history. Just like a new car but without the stupid electronics that go wrong, no expensive dual mass flywheels and more importantly no depreciation, I gave £600 for it and already have had a few people offering me over a grand.
when I photod the cadet and tarpen I thought of you lol. There was another cadet there but checking through my camera I don't seem to of snapped it.

Looking good.....I am looking forward to seeing this one finished and running ..the Sachs engine has quiet a reputation  for starting difficulties but if anyone can get one running well you can. Super job on the dowdeswell ..its been a while since i logged in so enjoying the excellent photos of your machines.

When I had a proper look at the bonnet I decided
that it would need flatting back as there was some
contamination im guessing in the primmer.
Today I also managed to get the under belly
sanded and primed. Just going to need a small
skim of stopper and then it should be ready for top
    coat.
A while back  I purchased a load of N.O.S badges
for Gem's, every one up till now had been fine,
however when I peeled back the cellophane layer
on the clutch one it peeled some of the paint off, I
don't know why, but as luck would have it I had
another new one that was good.
