  1. 65 of my hard earned pounds from Villiersparts! I wouldnt know where to start rewinding it!
  2. Cheers Richard, I thought it was something like that!!! Initial testing says secondary windings knackered! Not a cheap fix then........
  3. Hi! You all seem to be having fun at the rallies........The weather seems kinder this year! I hope someone is able to refresh my memory on how to test a coil on the little Atco Villiers 79cc engine??? I seem to be having a senior moment and have totally forgotten! This is for the engine I had as a spare. I'm fitting it to the little 12" Atco I accquired at Ardingly, which Kev and I shared. Have managed to source a grass box for it, and have gotten a new ignition lead. The rest is stripped and currently at the blasters. So the engine is getting a makeover and currently has no spark! Edit! Here's a picture Before it was separated from its engine, its all I have as my phone has been randomly deleting photo's???
  4. Thanks Hugh!!! Only too happy to oblige...... Just to add, its fixed and running sweetly again! Unblocked the fuel cap breather with the airline, cleaned the carb and tank, added some fresh fuel and away it went. However, the locknut for the carb adjustment seems to be missing and it winds itself back in with the vibrations. Temp fix is an 'R' pin, until I collect a locknut.....
  5. Thanks to Paul and Wendy for their hospitality again. It was great to see some familiar faces and meeting some for the 1st time! The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, hopefully next year I can bring something that will make it past the 1st corner in the ring!!!
  6. Thanks! But Im starting to dislike these little engines. I wish they would just run..... Spent a large part of the day trying to get them to do more than cough and splutter. Have fuel, have spark, both are getting fuel to the plug...... But they just wont start! The Ohlsson Rice 3/4hp I have is almost as bad. It has had a complete rebuild, new barrel, piston, carb, coil, full set of seals and gaskets. More TLC than I care to remember, countless evenings where I've given up..... It too has spark and fuel, it starts, runs for 20-30 seconds then stops. No matter where I set the mix, its the same. Expensive and Unusual paperweights spring to mind!!!
  7. I finally managed to get some Garage time to reassemble the 2 models acquired from 'Wallfish' and the USofA. The first is an ORLine Mustang Chainsaw, the other is an ORLine Hedge trimmer. Both will be restored in the fullness of time, but for now they are reassembled and will be tested over the next couple of days. Here are a couple of picture of them........
  8. Cheers guys..... making the most of my 3rd and last day off over christmas and new year!
  9. Haha! I'm thinking of making something, not sure if it will be horti based or just for my daughter to ride around on........ Have'nt quite got the skills of Ian or any of you other guys for creating!
  10. Cheers Paul, just need to find an application for it now? Not sure what though as the reduction gearbox does slow down the output speed considerably! Any ideas guys???
  11. Thanks! Just a few more bits left to do....... Then find something to fit it to???
  12. Had a little bit of international post arrive today...... Here they are stuck on!
  13. Managed to get it all back together, but without a spark...... A quick chat with Wallfish and an exchange of photo's showed me that a wire was in the wrong place. Once rectified, a healthy spark was produced. I was so tempted to try the engine, despite not having a working carb. So I squirted some fuel in and gave it a pull! The 2nd pull and away it went....... not for long, but enough to be happy with the progress. Next was to attend to the paint work. The fuel tank had a couple of small pin holes. Once stripped of old paint I was able to solder repair the pin holes, then apply some filler to smooth the dents. Next came a coat or 2 of etch primer and finally a couple coats of top coat. Gave the starter housing the same treatment........ New decals are on the way too!
  14. The carb was stripped for an inspection and overhaul. I discovered the fuel shut off valve(ball bearing) is missing, along with the choke lever and the air cleaner. I have replacements coming in from the US of A...... I have already had some bits come over, a replacement barrel and piston. New set of seals and gaskets, a new spark plug and a carb overhaul kit.
  15. I thought I would put an update on this little engines progress....... Once stripped down it became apparent that the piston and barrel would be one forever more, despite my best efforts to separate them! A little too much force and the piston was holed..... Here is the broken barrel and conrod.
  16. The only use for coca cola in our house is in the missus alcoholic beverages!!! Have been unsucessful in removing piston from barrel! Have managed to get barrel away from the crank case. Looks like a new barrel, piston and conrod will be required.......... :-( I believe the engine number to be 062 382? Its the only number I can find....
  17. Thanks for the info and pointing in Wallfish's direction! I managed to strip the engine down today, only to find its the piston which is corroded in the barrel....... Looking at it, I would say water has gotten into the plug hole! Im going to leave it soaking in the parts washer solution for a few days then try to free it off. Not sure how the barrel comes away from the crank housing though? Hi Wallfish, I will get the numbers off the engine tomorrow, if you have a parts diagram that would be great! Also how does the barrel come apart from the casing? Thanks :-)
  18. Hi all I wonder if any of you knowledgeable lot can help me with this? I'm guessing from a quick internet search it could be from a "Tiny Tiger Generator" from the 1940's. My dad gave it to me today and said it came with his 1929 Austin Seven Cambridge Special! In one of the 6 tea crates of car bits it was found. The engine would appear to have some sort of reduction gearbox fitted, possibly to gear down the speed for the generator. Its missing a spark plug and the generator bit but that seems all that's missing. It would appear to be stuck/seized too, as I cant pull the start rope nor turn by hand with the starter removed. Any help regarding info, manual and spares suppliers would be very helpful.
  19. A ha....... There was one like that at the Strawberries and Steam show, with the plastic grassbox, but the engine was white. Shame I didnt take any pictures.
  20. Thanks to all for having us and making us feel so welcome, really enjoyed the weekend. Great to see you all again and meet some new faces too. Shame about the weather! Will definately try to get time off for next years event.
  21. Got the series 1 Gem out today, thinking a 'tinker' would be required as its not been started for over a year. It started on half a turn of the handle! Now that did surprise me :-D Its moved to a neighbours garage for now, all ready for the Smallholders show. I needed the space to load the trailer with the Bantam, Atco, and both Landmaster Saturns in readiness for 'Strawberries and Steam' show this weekend at Wanborough, near Swindon Wilts. Anyone here likely to be going???
  22. I had a lovely little present waitng for me when I got home from work today, Titch had sent me some decals...... Didn't take me long to grab a Landmaster or 2 and get sticking! Here's the results, haven't smiled this much for quite a while!!! Here's the 68 Push model..... And here's the 79 Powered model......
