Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.
Done a bit of clearing up for a neighbour. Cut a some sieves down a couple of weeks ago, with the C-81 and finger bar. Today my neighbour and I gathered them up ready to burn.
Thought I'd give the Black Horse some exercise, as it hadn't been run for a couple of months at least. Was rather reluctant to start, but eventually we went next door with trailer in tow. In the field the Black Horse started acting up. Would run and idle fine, but if shut down would be hesitant to restart. Took it home and got the Sears/Roper for trailer duty.
Lost count of the trailer loads, but quite a few. Photo's of last load.

I would suggest from the look of it, to leave it alone. That bend is a BSP elbow and the threads will be well corroded. You'd have to disconnect the pipe underneath first and the section going through the chassis, to be able to unscrew it.
-
Doesn't half look small off the bench. When's the test drive? With photo's of course?
-
Simon took it. Knocked off some of the price of the Hyundai. Having a steel chassis was not really an option. I couldn't have done it myself. Maybe if I was a bit younger and had a bigger workshop. Also being without transport would be a problem.
-
I did think of a replacement galvanised chassis. But unfortunately it wasn't financially viable.
-
A very bice job there. Be almost a shame to put it to work.
-
My Land Rover Discovery failed it's M.O.T. today. Terminal chassis rot. Could have been patched, but not really viable. So after six years ownership and many a thousands miles, it was time to bid adieu to the old girl.
Disco's replacement now occupies it's parking space.
Hyundai Santa Fe. 2.2 4cyl diesel. 5 speed box and goes like the proverbial off a blanket. Got all the bells and whistles. Leather seats, cruise control, air con etc. etc. Towing capacity 2-1/2 ton and enough room in the back to sleep in.
Luckily Carol likes the colour, as she knew nothing about it 'till I brought it home.

Well that shows how much I know about Westwood Gemini's.

-
Not this time, Alan. I didn't put it up.

The hazards of deck chairs. Check everything is in place, BEFORE you sit down.

Read Mickwhitts topic on Red Square as I've suggested. He'll answer any questions you ask.

There's a Red Square member, our sister forum, in the prosses of doing so. Mickwhitt in Barnsley. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/86368-road-legal-in-the-uk

Happy Birthday, Dave, All the Best.
-
He did offer to pay me. But I declined because he's a good neighbour. Be £30 per hour for you plus meals.

Serviced a neighbours walk behind mower today. Got three logs in return.

While looking around for things to do, I spied a little toolbox on a workshop shelf. Now all three Wheel Horses have toolboxes fitted to their fenders, but not the Sears/Roper. I've been reluctant to drill holes in it's fenders.
Looking at the back end, I noticed a couple of bolts securing the seat mount sticking out with some thread showing. Just enough to fasten something on.
So yesterday the toolbox got a rub down and a coat of primer. Followed by a couple of top coats of mat black. I've no gloss.
This morning I fitted it.
Nice fit methinks.

Good work, Joseph! I'd have just ploughed up the grass. Might not have gone down well with the females of the family though.
-
Going to be better than new by the time your finished.
-
I was wondering about how you'd fit towing attachments. Wonder what the bottom pin was for. Neat!
-
Glad your improving. Stay safe.
-
'Ow do, Doug. Been wondering where you'd got to. Good to hear from you.
I like the winch setup. Been thinking about something similar for the Black Horse for the plough. The hydraulic set up was not very successful. Neither was the electric actuator. Very slow due to the ploughs weight and when traveling over rough ground, the plough would drop.
Where did you get the little winch? I was thinking about mounting a quad winch on the front, running the cable underneath.
-
No doubt Carol will disagree.
-
I'll think of something Jonathan.
Coal bunker finished now. Just needs a fresh coat of white paint.
A nice chrome removable bar to keep it open.
-
Not hard to guess, Alan.
Wood to the tip? Waste full!
