  1. Came home this evening to some cool original O&R goodies. This bundle has some original, and very detailed service manuals, several service bulletins and some misc brochures, mostly chainsaws but there are a couple other cool ads. I haven’t even gone through this in detail yet but thought I’d share some pics.

David, have you ever seen the Grow Gear Trimmer there in the UK?

  2. First, Welcome to the forum!

Second- $10 that’s an amazing deal on a Tiny Tiger, you’re very fortunate!

Third-can you add some photos of your carburetor? We can probably figure out which parts are missing. You’ll probably need a new diaphragm and gasket anyway.

Mask it off and paint everything else? At least that's what I'm gonna try

I might mask off the decal on the chain cover.  Still have to paint the recoil cover and probably use a standard decal.

I don know he was cussing me a little he not good with the small stuff I showed him the silver recoil decals he side no way he could

    get them that clear

Ok, yeah those little details are probably challenging unless you have some higher end equipment.

It's not just smaller, the MONO text is rounded to match the starter too, personally I would leave the starter as it is, I prefer to keep original decals that aren't too far gone.

    David

Since I’m going to have to paint my recoil cover I might just go back with a standard O&R decal. Would be nicer to have the Mono decal on there but o’well...

  5. I do but unfortunately the recoil cover was replaced at some point and it doesn’t have any of the original decal   I bought a set of the Mono decals from Sugar Creek, let me dig around for those and check to see if there were two in the package, I only need one for the chain cover...  Someone might be able to also use this as a pattern and scale it down for the recoil cover but like David pointed out it won’t be quite like the original. I didn’t think of contacting Jim’s decals or anyone’s else to see but it might be an option.

JustO&R:  if your decal guy had one of these new decals would he be able to use it as a pattern to make the smaller one?

Forgot all about Sugar Creek. Thanks as that size is about perfect for the chain cover and maybe a quick note to them about a smaller one might get a recoil decal too.

    Sending a PM

Best of luck, I tried contacting them to see if they would scale down the decal as well and never got a response. Never know, maybe my emails ended up in their spam folder...  I’m just going to use one on the chain cover.

  7. Just looked at the engine rebuild thread again, very interesting... yep mine just has the open rollers with washers. That seems like a really high stress area to have a plastic cage, maybe that’s why they switched.

Now Karma has come back to bite me for bust'n Clint. Lost a hole crank end bearing, cage and all. Put it somewhere safe and can't find it now

Plastic or metal?  I’ve seen a couple complete but used metal ones on the auction site.  I think I might have an extra metal cage but it doesn’t have the little rollers.

    Just bust'n your balls.

But I thought if they had plastic cages, all the bearings are plastic cage bearings. At least the engines I've taken apart so far were like that. But they did make lots of changes as they went along

Interesting, I’ve never seen a cage with the connecting rod bearings. Seems all the engines I’ve done just have rollers that fit inside the open ends of the rod.

All the other bearings on this engine are the plastic cage type.

  9. Hey now, I’ve actually never lost any rollers:P, just thought I did on this one because if the deceptive spacing.  I’m certain now that this particular rod has the 13 roller set up, no plastic cage involved. The plastic cage I was referring to was for the crankshaft bearing that had a crack in it.

  10. This roller situation may have just gotten a little more weird. Big thanks to JustO&R for providing the spare bearing rollers and plastic bearing cage! Good news is the plastic cage fit great.  What is strange is when I started putting the connecting rod bearings back together I tried to use one of the spare rollers and there is absolutely no way to get 14 rollers in there. Everything measures out to be the right size

It seems odd to have almost a full roller gap in there but maybe it’s only suppose to have 13.  That matches the set that JustO&R reference only having 13 as well. I put it all back together with just 13, guess we will see what happens.

I can send these spare spare rollers back to you JustO&R so you’ll have them when you need them in the future.
