Yes I was thinking of finding a more responsive carb when I eventually build a boat, I have the frame modeled on solid works mostly I just need to get some kinks worked out, the rest of the unit I might restore also just Incase I find out the mity moe is worth a million dollars or something haha but I will definitely hold on to the rest of the parts
What would you recommend for a fuel to oil ratio, most modern equipment I think is 50:1 I’m assuming the mity moe calls for a 25:1 or 30:1
I would hunt for a different engine for your boat and keep the Mity Moe all together and original. You can still find the O&R engines that aren’t part of actual tools on eBay sometimes. Keeping it original is worth more.
I second Wallfish, Allstate Gasket is another source for the material. Unfortunately either route you go they require a pretty large minimum order so it gets really expensive. Per Wallfish, he or I can send you a small piece at the price mentioned if you decide you want to cut your own.
Ok, that’s what I figured. I’m going’s to check one more source. I have the guts to another engine that might be old enough to have the plastic bearings. I’ll pull the induction unit apart later today to see if it has one in decent shape.
It took me awhile to track down a source for the diaphragm material in the right thickness. I ended up going with a material from Alpha Engineered Composites. It’s a Fairprene product code WFP-B2N1.
Would it be too risky to re-use this bearing? I don’t plan to run the engine much and since the bearing cage is all confined when installed I’m wondering if it might still work even though it is cracked. What would you guys do?
The Groomer string trimmers (weed wacker) were made in the late 1970's by Advanced Engine Products Incorporated (formerly known as O&R), this was towards the end of AEP (O&R) as the company was dissolved in 1978. Hopefully someone will find a complete trimmer one day.
I found one and got all excited but the owner wasn’t interested in selling it.
I aquired one, I found it in my friends dead neighbors barn I was wondering if you could help me find a new carb diaphragm or if I can make one and how to do it or any info would be a great help thank you
Welcome to the forum! You have us drooling over the fogger, that is a really neat tool. PM me and I can also help you with a diaphragm if someone else hasn’t already got you fixed up.
I’m certainly not opposed to keeping and re-using the plastic ones, just didn’t know if they were known to fail frequently. Two of the ones I have look to be in ok condition. There is one though that the plastic has cracked all the way through so I’m guessing it should probably be replaced.
Here’s one of the shafts and it has a flat washer with the plastic bearing. If I switch to a metal bearing I’m wondering if this washer will still work or if a different set up is needed.
Thanks for all the research on this David, very helpful knowing the progression and changes in part numbers.
Do do you know if the bearing swap is all that’s needed or are there any spacer washers or other pieces requires drivers to fit the metal bearings with the various shafts? I will try to add a photo in a little while of one in particular I’m thinking about.
