CNew got a reaction from K-TRON in Ohlsson & Rice: Irvington Mini-Winch
Proud new owner of the Irvington Mini Winch. My plan was to get it all ready before posting but couldn’t wait. The previous owner was super awesome and reached out to me before parting with it. I of course was very interested and hope to make this a centerpiece in the collection.  Another BIG thank you to the owner for keeping this here in the O&R family!

I’m itching to clean it up and display it but I have been thwarted by too many business trips and landscaping lately. I hope things will slow down a little soon so I can get back to this.  I need to add an air cleaner and swap out the tank clamp.

Probably work but you could make a little pin using some stiff wire or cut a small piece off a large paper clip.

Feels good to finally have this Chug-a-drill project finished.

Here’s the final product…. It took a bit of tinkering to get the finish aged and worn-in like I wanted it so that it would look more original to the drill.

Yes, some of the 13B engines have some differences in the carb. The later carbs have a little rubber stopper on the diaphragm arm that replaced the little steel ball bearing. Another change was the little brass inlet nipple/valve you referenced.

Without seeing the issue up close I’m not sure what to suggest to fix it. If it’s just slightly loose but the actual valve is still functioning internally, could you maybe use a little bit of epoxy or JB to help seal it and snug it up where it connects to the carb body?

Next Saturday is a smaller get together up in Maine so figured I'd bring up some of the stuff that doesn't go to the big shows. They haven't seen the light of day in a LONG time so it'll be nice for people to see them. They're too small and expensive to leave unattended at the big shows although I have never heard of any stealing of anything at any of them.
Just a small sample and will probably bring about 20-25 tools or so depending on available time to get them out. Pictures of the entire display all together next week

CNew reacted to K-TRON in The rare 6 port O&R!
For your amusement is the rare 6 port O&R engine!  This engine was put away "running", as I am sure most are! This little O&R must have been dug out of a lake bed. The muffler was completely packed full of mud. I bead blasted the engine and submerged it in my heated ultrasonic cleaner for three days. I gave the cylinder a wiggle with my O&R cylinder removal tool, and snap, the connecting rod blew in half. With the cylinder separated from the crankcase I re-blasted the engine this time getting under the piston, and into the crankcase. The crankcase free'd up within an hours time in the ultrasonic. The piston was a job the grease gun fought with. I am surprised to say that this little casting can actually take 5,000psi of force, as the bypass on the pump hit a few times as heat was applied. The little piston finally came out, and it was rusted and corroded all over. It turns out that the mud in the muffler eat through the cast iron liner into the cylinder. So much for trying to save the cylinder!  This one is a goner. I will have to put a donor piston/cylinder/rod in this one when I go about replacing all of the needle bearings. I thought you guys would like to see the pictures even though the situation isnt the greatest. The pump has been loosely reassembled and now has spark, so that is a good thing!

Thanks for the link, I have bought from Bryce before, he is a little less than honest with his descriptions. I think it is still worth the gamble because of the price. I will likely purchase the crankcase this week.

I sent a message to the seller on eBay with the complete head, piston & crank. Said it doesn’t have any scoring - might be worth the gamble, especially at that price which is really reasonable.

I just busted a crank on a seized engine.  There should be a little c-clip on one side, remove that and you should be able to tap the wrist pin from the opposite side.

I’ll look through my stuff tomorrow. I have an old beater 20A chainsaw that is stripped, I’ll see if it still has the piston.

Not sure if the piston is included in this one…

You can fold and crimp the edges closed too in order to bend it but still need the plate welded on.
Circumference of a 10" circle is about 31 1/2 inches and most places sell tube at 36 inches. Good tight crimps on the ends and you can fill it with water which is much easier to empty out.
And just another little tid bit. Connecting car batteries in series does work for arc/stick welding. I have a real welder but curiosity got the best of me so had to try it. Not the most safe thing I guess but danger is my middle name! LoL
I used 3 batteries but thinking 2 would work with a small thin rod

I recently purchased a supply of the 1/16" and 3/32" chrome steel ball bearings used for check valves in most of the O&R carburetors. These are high quality ball bearings precision rated G25. If you need some, just drop me a PM.

Yes, I’m not good at linking pages on here but if you go to the main Ohlsson Rice page there is a section title Brochures, etc that has parts list and other info.

I looked up that part number and it looks like it’s the Roller Retainer for the later 13B engine. Go to this page and pull up the info on the 1970s engine.

Agreed. Been eyeballing some for rebuild, spruce up etc.
It's about time because winter time is O&R time if I get some time this time.
