diggerjames reacted to Cub Cadet in Cub Cadet 70 restoration
I'm getting lots done now that I've finished school
The engine has been mostly reassembled now
The hood that was ready for the scrap bin has been patched up the best we could, at least there is metal there now, with a bit of filler it should look ok.
With thanks to the warm weather today I got lots more painting done and some parts got reassembled

Split the gearbox this morning. Not a pretty sight. A good layer of black sludge in the bottom. Gears and drive shafts covered in a layer of rust. Main bearings rough. I did manage to free the selectors and get three gears.
So I reckon it's a total rebuild, with my metric conversion like the C-121. Not going to happen methinks.
A visit to a friend today has produce some interesting parts, that with another engine I have, will make a fun special.

Taken engine off and washed down the engine bay, sand filled a 25L container!
Input flange bearing is shot and engine bay floor looks like it has been dropped to accommodate Kohler engine.

That's the only thing with doing these resto's is finding somewhere to hang all the bits

I bought this a couple of years ago off eathen (veggie kevs son ) then sold it to the nursery, anyway today I bought it back, and it's likely to be mine and Ian's next winter project, we will defently be loosing the chassis and adding a wheel, I haven't a clue what it will be or look like, but ime sure when Ian and I put our heads together it will be some thing a bit weird

diggerjames reacted to Stormin in Project C1-4x6
Oh dear! That's what I found had happened with the C-121 when I got it. The needle roller bearings you can get. The main ball bearings are scarcer then rocking horse poo. I had the cases modified to take metric bearings. Look in my C-120 rebuild topic.

diggerjames reacted to Ian in Oh dear C145 followed me home
That's a nice find James, only needs a fender pan and seat padding to make it usable
The 518-H I had many years ago had one of those extra belt guards.... I think it ended up as part of the belt guard on the 6x6

Evening all as u can guess fin the title this little Steed followed me home , bought as a non runner but doesn't look to be much wrong with it , it has got an interesting auxiliary belt guard on the side and a fancy rear hitch
