  2. BTW, on another sad note GTTalk is near death as well. Most of moderators and many of the members have jumped ship to a site called Tractor Fanatics. I was member number 2 at GTTalk and not long after it went on air I knew this would happen. I'm only surprised it to took this long, but its been going downhill for the last several years after the founding member/owner sold it to mega bucks media company. Everythings about the money with some guys.
  3. Yes he was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of knowledge on Bolens tractors to literally thousands of people fro more than a decade. Rest In Peace. I'm afraid we are getting to those days when this type of news is going to be a common occurrence. Whether you are into cars, motorbikes, tractors lawn and garden trains, the enthusiast are a dying breed and not enough people are taking there place, very sad.
  4. It fits Weihrauch & Beeman HW Air Rifles. My unit in the military was tasked to be proficient in almost every hand carried weapon used by modern armies
  5. My 1969 Bolens 1476 Hydrostatic with the 14 hp S-14D Wisconsin has a 48" shaft drive deck that I can mow the cow pasture and not have any issues, three foot grass isn't a problem, I have 27"x 9.50"- 15" Duro Frontier All Terrain tires on the back and original Goodyear 5.30-8 tires on the front. The hydro unit holds 11 quarts of transmission fluid inside a solid cast iron rear end and trans axle and weighs a little over 1,000 ponds without a deck or implements; I have two of these. My 1973 Allis Chalmers 416 Shuttle has 48" belt drive right hand discharge deck and a 16 hp single cylinder cast iron Kohler K341 engine mated to a 4 speed Hydro, Yep, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear is both infinite forward and reverse. Rear tires are 25"x 10"-12" Carlisle All Trails with 25 pounds of weights on each wheel with 4" axle extenders to give it a real wide track or you can remove them and install them on the outside to mount a set of dual wheels, Fronts are smooth ribbed 16x6.50-8 for easy turn and easy on the turf. This machine was only built one year and I have two other A/C 416s true Hydro units as well. These are the two machines I use to mow this year, next year I will charge two more for mowing duties. This keeps them up and running, but not overburdened.

    Tyre change.

    Doubt you wear them out
  7. I'm thinking about adding another stake on each side to strengthen the trailer and balance the look
  8. Happy Birthday Mate, your hanging in there like a vintage tractor
  9. Great photos, I also like the early Ford Capris
  10. I know what you mean, when you have a lot to do in a limited amount of time photos are't in the picture so to say. I'm mowing 3 acres and trimming 800 yards of fence line; that leaves little time for photos. I'll ask the neighbors if they have any picture of me mowing, they wait until their grass is nearly knee high, they aren't busy doing anything.
  11. Here in the states we call them Box Turtles
  12. I found this guy about six inches off the ground climbing my tomato plant. Proof positive and turtles are agile and proficient climbers in secret
  13. For a look of some early and rare garden tractors made in America this page is a great resource. http://raregardentractors.com/gardentractors-for-sale.html BTW, the Pond brothers started with Shaw manufacturing company that made the Shaw Du-All tractor in Galesburg Kansas just about 100 miles north of me. From Gas Engine Magazine " The Speedex Tractor Corporation was founded in 1935 by Harold Pond, who is considered the developer of the first four wheel riding garden tractor in America. Harold Pond was associated in the late 1920s with Stanley W. Shaw of the Shaw Mfg. Company in Galesburg, Kansas, who fabricated walk behind garden tractors and outdoor power equipment from reclaimed motorcycle and automobile parts. Harold Pond, Elmer Pond and Glen Heilman ( Harold Ponds Brother-in-Law) all worked for Shaw MFG at one time. These three dispersed to Ohio and Indiana to form their own companies and develop their own tractors. Harold Pond developed the Speedex line of tractors in Ravenna, Ohio. Harold's brother Elmer and his son Cecil developed the Pond line of tractors which later became named Wheel Horse in the South Bend, Indiana area. Harold's brother-in-law Glen Heilman developed the Garden-All line of tractors in Mishawaka, Indiana. Glen was married to Harold's wife's sister. These three, who grew up in Galesburg, Kansas, were responsible for many innovations in the lawn and garden tractor industry. While Harold was working for Shaw he was assigned the territories of Ohio and Pennsylvania. During that time he developed the Speedex walk-behind tractor. In 1935 he founded Speedex Tractor Company and began making a riding tractor called the Model B Speedex. It had tiller steering, Briggs & Stratton Model ZZ air cooled engine, and the tractor utilized a Ford Model A transmission and a Ford model T rear axle which was narrowed to suit the tractor. The Speedex Model B was the first riding four wheel garden tractor with an air cooled engine and pneumatic tires. According to a letter from Mrs. Harold Pond: 'When Harold brought out his first riding tractor, the Speedex Model B, it outsold his walking model by far. He started a national advertising campaign on his new riding tractor and they sold like Carter sold liver pills. We were married in March 1939 and did not take our honeymoon until the slack season commenced."
  14. Thanks mates, I have a desire to grow all our food for the health benefits and self reliance. The soil is great black topsoil with lots of aged cow manure. The paleness comes from grass clippings that I spread out to hold moisture, hinder weed growth, and add nutrients into the soil
  15. Yours a 1966 model 191-01 but it has the cut-out like a 1967 model 191-02. Either they started using the cut out on the later 191-01 hoods or yours hood is from a later model, hard to say which. if you google the image you will see the pepper box should exit the bonnet centered on the hole. later modifications to many of these old machines manifold pipe has resulted in a off center placement
  16. Thanks for sharing. Great Pictures
  17. BTW, you may be able to use the Husqvarna 455 as a reference to the engineering, they look very similar Husqvarna_455E_Rancher II_IPL_2018-02.pdf

    Bolens 1050

I've had tractors like that months of siting not knowing what was wrong and a couple hours after digging into it, puff, cough, sputter, running. I was afraid you were going to say you sold it
  21. Most modern saws use a pulse tube from the internal engine pressure to supply fuel. Cracked or rotted lines can reduce the flow and cause low flow problems
  22. Classic styling and engineering, she's a beaut
