minky reacted to Tom in John Deere 110
Hi all,
Hope everyone is well. Haven't posted on here in a long while as work is incredibly busy but try to pop on for a browse now and then. Just thought I'd share my latest purchase as it's pretty special (in my opinon!!) and I have been after one for years. Just the one picture for now, more to follow. Curious to know how many of these exist in the UK?

That's good, around here if there isn't full sun the types of native grasses we have do not grow in any shade

it gets the sun from it comes up till about lunch time.....when i moved in there was a large bank of soil running down between the trees there which i pulled down and leveled across the garden and i had to put weed killer down to stop the grass and weeds growing till i got that bit sorted...

Grass needs sun to grow as much as water. soil issues and lack of sun are by far the biggest problems with getting grass to grow, water is not one of them.

If you watch video I got hold of a big root that stopped me dead and the front wheels came up.. If ya look closely at the ripper I have bent one of the teeth.. As for grass most will grow in there as it gets plenty of water from the field behind us..

It must have been over a year since I have managed to find some tractor time and we currently do not have anything running. Instead of doing the sensible thing of looking at something that ran recently we decided to drag a tractor out of storage that last ran well over 10 years ago. It was such a long time ago I cant remember what was wrong with it and it is no good asking Joseph because he was not born then.
I really like this tractor because it is very original and has a hydraulic implement lift.
Joseph made an introduction video of the tractor
So far we have flushed the fuel tank, rebuilt the carb and fitted replacement throttle and carb cables, before we ran out of time. Hopefully I can make some time to continue with it.

Nice job with those mean looking Blades . Presume you are Grubbing out the area below the trees for the purpose of surface root reduction?.

WOW, that doesn't take up much room. The Bolens QS16 was offered with a Kohler K341 single cylinder, very rare, but very capable. The T in QT was for Twin engine and the S in QS was for single cylinder

minky reacted to Triumph66 in Put the Bolens to work today
I had a couple of jobs today at a customer's garden and I thought I would give the 600 a brief workout especially since the head gasket and exhaust been replaced by my mate Chris a few days ago. It fired up first time this morning and was a lot quieter than of late. There was a dead Acer (Japanese maple) that needed to be removed. I pruned the branches off and mattacked the roots around the tree. I slipped on a rope around the tree and secured it to the hitch. The Bolens pulled it easily in first gear and took two attempts. Considering that it is a 6hp Bolens without diff lock I was pleased with what it could do.

minky reacted to Ian in New arrival.. Wheel Horse D-200
Thanks Norm, yep road registered and still on the DVLA computer..
Thanks Harry.. Plans are not much.. Fit a 3 point on the back, maybe make pallet fork, then just a wipe over with an oily rag once in a while.. I like how she looks
Thanks Chris, a new seat would be good, one that will now backwards by a few inches would be better
I have plenty of new lights for the back, not sure if I want to fit them though..
Hi Richard, yes the ol D is in quite good health, the trans whines a bit but so do I
I remember the tiny WH sticker thing on Andy's D, plenty of them on my D!
Thanks Paul, good to catch up with you Friday, I seem to remember you having a big grin as you drove the D around the carpark
Not much to report, the D gets better each time she is driven. The engine always starts first time every time
Speaking of the engine, a new vacum fuel pump was fitted so I could get rid of the "tank on a plank" that was clamped on the front and use the D's original tank..
The engine was also missing a cover, so I quickly folded one up from a bit of sheet steel.. Not pretty but does the job.
The D's first official duty, carting some steel panels up from the scrap pile
