They're rated at 3/4 to 1 HP. All the engines, except for the VERY early models, have the same bore. Other small changes gained the HP from 3/4 to 1. They are decaled at 3/4, .85 and 1 HP.

The trigger on this drill does not control the speed. Engine runs at a governed 6300 rpm all the time and the trigger is the on/off switch.

Had run over to an old friend who is a bit of a Ransom addict. Well more than a bit. 11 at the last count and a goodly collection of various implements. Unfortunately they were all tucked away. But a few photo's for you.

    That's some good info!
I like to use the electrolysis tank for larger and heavily rusted things but also use cider vinegar for smaller pieces with just surface rust. The vinegar works great for doing the inside of fuel tanks and it works great on things like chains. The electrolysis tank works on "line of sight" to the electrode so more intricate pieces, like chains, do better soaking in the cider vinegar to reach all the surfaces. Did a bunch of old chainsaw chains and they came out looking like new.

    VERY NICE
My wife can't stand the fact I collect engines. Maybe it's because I always stink of oil and gas. That stenchy 40+ year old gas is the worst. One drop seems to linger for days.

The only old Briggs I own is a 1945 ZZ. 6 hp (I believe) which is about the size of a more modern Kohler K241 10 horse. It's connected to an old WW II generator.

We've all got some form of it John............  I'm also like Darren with his OCD.

But I really suffer from many deficiencies that have these weird Acronyms like-      S.A.D.,   O.L.D.,   G.I.T.

    'Unfinished' means ongoing !.

'Finished' means it needs to be improved upon, therefore still unfinished.

..................................................................Schubert does not have the Sole right to attribute the word 'Unfinished' to his work !.

Homelite tools from the 60's. These were all based using the same 2 stroke engine from the XL-12 chainsaw.

XL-12 Chainsaw, XL-100 Circular saw, XL-A115 Generator, Drill Attachment, XL-SG1 Water pump, XLMB Military Blower. ( I have the XLBC Brush Cutter, but can't find the pics)
Still searching for the earth auger, the Harvester, a better example of the water pump and any other applications

They don't make quality anything any more because there's not enough money in it. It's easier and more profitable to build things cheap and sell as many as they can, then sell you another one every time the cheapo POS breaks down.

I'm not sure how many variations were made with these engines and no one really seems to know. I saw an ad for the XL-HAV Harvester a while back before I was really collecting them and wish I bought it. The harvester used a long remote handle for engine control with a long belt connected. Used to shake nut trees, I believe. Since that application is so specialized, there could be almost anything out there. There are also a few military generator applications and I stumbled across this blower which I had no idea existed until I saw it so I'm sure there are others as well. The hunt is half the fun of collecting!

I use it for a fuel stabilizer.

It does seem to keep the (already cleaned) carbs from getting clogged up as fast.

Wallfish reacted to pmackellow in Conyers Battery Charging Set
A mate of mine down on the Sussex Coast (no not Mr Showman) has a large collection of stationary engines, mainly generators and battery charging sets, amongst which is a little set made by W.E.Conyers Ltd. I always fancied this little set and thought if one came along I would add it to the collection, as its 6 12 or 24 volt I could use it to demonstrate the 12 volt Tarpen equipment that I have.

Walking round the Sunday Sortout at Newark last November I spotted a Conyers set on the very last stall we looked at. It wasn't dear so was duly purchased and brought back to the camping field (see first photo below)

A few days later I popped down to see our mate Steve who owns the other Conyers set and found that not only did my set run with a bit of tinkering (and a bit of smoke - too much oil in the petrol) but that it and Steves set are only two serial numbers apart !!

Just thought I'd attempt to post a picture of half my Suburban riding tractors, by DB from 59-65. I have a fairly large collection of these, and they are my main power in the garden and around the yard.

Another hobby of mine is collecting these cool little O&R gas powered tools and engines. Most were manufactured here in the USA but there are plenty of others that were made in the UK and other countries.

Here's a Bridges Mini-Mota Drill that I had shipped in from the UK. You move the chuck to different spots on the gearbox to change the rpm. Not sure why anything would need to be drilled at 6300 rpm, but it's there if you want to.

Look's Very tidy and well cared for John. What sort of age are we talking here, as I can't see a Chain Brake and is the Chain Oil feed manual or Auto pumped?.  Only ask, as I hope to bring a '71-ish Poulan Model 25 back to life and that is devoid of a Brake or Auto pump. Thanks
