  1. I really need to make some pallet forks for the GT's 3 point :D

The Reliant Rialto 2 Axle had arrived :)

    WN109_zpsd21a5024.jpg

Unwrapped and on the bench.. All the oil on the left side is due to a certain delivery company thinking it is fine to stand the axle on it's end in a truck or van!!

    WN110_zpsc1d4149e.jpg

As you can see it's a tad wide and will narrowing quite a bit to make it fit.. Should be interesting as I've never narrowed and axle before, but there is plenty of info out there on the internet :)

One of the fun parts is going to be getting this 5 x 4 1/2" PCD wheel to fit...

The 4 x 4" PCD Reliant hub and brake drum!

    WN112_zpsc35d5cb8.jpg

The PCD's are too close together to make a "traditional" adapter plate, so the only way I can come up with is to make 2 adapter plates, one for the Reliant hub and one for the WH wheel, then bolt both adapter plates together...

We shall see, no time for "Why Not" at the mo as I need to get the 6x6 done before the 10th!!   Eeekk!

  2. Hi Ian, got PM, sorting it out,

Renewing bearings on the BCS flail, pics of the drive pulleys, no keys, the bore of the pulley & the outside of the centre piece have matching tapers, the screws pull the two together very tightly. I assume no keys to allow shock absorption by slipping . I wonder if something like this may help prevent the taperlock breakages you are suffering ? With a lathe I would think they would not be too difficult to makeattachicon.gifP1020025.JPGattachicon.gifP1020024.JPGattachicon.gifP1020023.JPGattachicon.gifP1020022.JPGattachicon.gifP1020021.JPGattachicon.gifP1020020.JPGif an immovable object is encountered  attachicon.gifP1020026.JPG

Thanks for that Doug. I think the problem is I'm asking something that wasn't designed for this sort of job to put up with too much strain and weight! I'm hoping the "Wheel job" will take some off the strain out..

Looking at the thickness of some of this metal, I'm thinking..... I wonder what this beast weighs? Have you a local weigh bridge that may be able to help? Would be interesting to find out the weight of this beast,

Also.... Once back together and finished, it looks like time for a good old pressure wash, she looks abit dirty....

Hi Charlie, I've no idea how much she weighs, but at a guess I'd say a lot :D    It would be good for her to loose a few kilos..

The dirt can stay for now, all being well she is off to a working weekend next weekend and would only get covered in muck and dust anyway :)

Looks as good as ever Ian, hope it handles and drives better for you!

Thank you Sir, I'm hoping it will help the steering and straining out a bit.. I'm also hoping that the farmer does not plow the field behind my house before I've had a chance to give the 6x6 a good thrashing across it.. Well, I need to test the modification's out :D

A small update... The right side outrigger now looks like this.. I hope to have it finished by the end of the day..

  3. Thanks guy's, it's getting there...

A small progress report.. The right side now looks like this..

    TSS15324_zps3256240c.jpg

During strip down I found yet another cracked in two taper-lock bush!!  Good job I have a few spares :)

    TSS15326_zps6186e692.jpg

And for some strange reason, one of the chain tensioner sprockets had decided to spit out one of it's bearing!!   Not a problem as I have spares..

The outrigger has been stripped of paint and will be getting sliced and diced today..

  4. No stopping you now Richard, I bet the poor mower doesn't know what's hit it :)

"Outcome is that they will fabricate a New 5 Blade Cylinder on the Original Spindle and provide a new Bottom Blade."   I didn't know that sort of service was available!!   That's fantastic

  5. Hi Doug, you should build the Bonsor type truck, those wheels and tyres look ideal for the job

    Hi again,

The chap with the Reliant can't use a phone let alone a computer, When he was busking, people would film him and put it on yt. You may find his clips easier by "Googling"  "sawman" instead of searching in yt. There are I think a half dozen clips. He goes under the alias of "Bryan Brynn" he thinks the taxman will be after him! You wouldn't believe it but he makes anything from £25 to £70 in an hour. people probably pay him to go away.

Thanks Doug, I will have to do some serious Googling and see if I can find him... That;s quite an hourly busking rate he is on!

Back again, General Lee has been recovered (again) by the RAC. Bryan came round for advice. I asked the question and came away with a propshaft with duff u/j'sattachicon.gifP1020019.JPG

That's great Doug, can you thank Bryan for me  I will pop you a PM shortly

  6. The dual set up with weights certainly looks the part but I would guess could be a bit hard on the half-shafts particularly if used with that blade on the front?

I never has any problems with half-shafts even when using the blade very hard pushing dirt about and that was when the Wh still had it's original trans with 1 inch diameter shafts!

    bolens

I should of guessed that :D

  7. Hi Doug, no worries on the prop shaft, but if you could ask your neighbor on the off chance..   Do you have a link to his YT page? Reading the Reliant Robin post he sounds like an interesting sort of character :)  I did try looking up "sawman" on YT but couldn't find him.

Not much to report chaps (keep quiet for the mo Mark, you know what I mean ;) ), but while doing a bit of research on Reliant Kitten front ends I spotted a Kitten rear wheel for sale...  HHmm... I'm sure I've seen a pair of wheels that look just like that!!

These were the wheels off the filming trailer!

    WN106_zps64126fe7.jpg

So lets compare the Reliant 4 inch or 101.6mm PCD to a Wheel Horse rear wheel..   The holes are too close for a wheel adapter to work, and re-drill the wheel is out.. So let's hope the Reliant brake drums can be re-studded instead!
