Had a chance to check the underside of this beast the other day.
Checked and found it has a really good bright spark  .
Clean Disc, Blades are very good and just need freeing up.
No holes in the deck area, only surface rust and caked grass. Tyres good-

At the drive end, all look's good with a little Oil creep and grease weep around the joints.
Clutch Pivot is seized (frozen), so nothing serious hopefully.
Going to check all the Clutch/Drive parts over.
Being an older model, the Wheels are retained by Castellated Nuts 'n' Pins, so should be straight forward.

After having a sort out and finding 14 tractors, I thought I would downsize my collection. Had a phone call yesterday offering me another wheelhorse and I thought might as well have 15, just one more wont make any differance

Picked up the 2nd Saturn today, It got a driven rear roller, exhaust vents through the deck, adjustable handles, automatic choke and is exactly the same as the one in the brochure. For the purposes of restoration and to prevent me and you guys getting confused, I shall refer to this machine as Saturn 2, The naughty one! Naughty? because it doesn't want to work............ Its had fresh fuel, its getting through as the plug is wet and you can smell fuel. Its got compression, its got some activity on the meter when pulling the start cord, but its refusing to spark...... I'm thinking something to do with either the points system under the flywheel or the armature? Any advice would be greatly appreciated..... Here's the pictures anyway!

Haven't made much progress with this for a couple of days due to work.... Managed to get a couple of hours this afternoon so I've repaired the guard fitted around the bottom of the engine/blade. It was rotted quite bad on one side and had been fibreglassed. I cut out the bad and let in some new steel and then re-fitted the bracket used to bolt it down. I will drop the guard off tomorrow to be blasted and powder coated black. I will also be collecting the 2nd of these Saturn's tomorrow from Hook, nr Basingstoke, so not far away......

Thanks for the diagram, have found the stop switch on the bay of E along with an air filter foam and a 3.5mm pull start rope. All for a little over a tenner. The rope which came with the mower was a 6mm one and wouldnt return correctly and the air filter was an old decorators sponge...... and I mean old!!!

Thanks Nigel. Next time I need to drill any very big holes through thick steel I will give you a bell

Well chaps, it's looking like this 3 point saga is finally coming to the end.. Not much left to do now

Yesterday I finished welding up the lower arm mounts, and then turned my attention to the roll bar. Lot's of seam welding and plating over a few holes to make things stronger..

Here's the first two plates on top of the diagonal bit's ready to be welded on..

I had four round "open" bit's to make filler plates for..

I was going to cut some circular plates out until I spotted quite a few of these big thick washers (thank you Michael )..
Just the right size, but how would I hold them in position for welding?

By welding some off cuts into the washer holes I created my own mini metal mushroom garden

Which gave me a way of holding the washers in place for welding..

    Tacked in

With the welding all done the last job for yesterday was to get the bare metal painted to stop it rusting. If I had some black paint then I would of painted the roll bar with some.. But a bit of colour adds character.. It will soon get dirty and start to blend with with the rest of the GT anyway

The lower mounts could do with a second coat..

Today's plan is to get the GT all bolted back together then enjoy not cutting, grinding, welding and filing thick steel for a short while

This mower was stripped down today, I found only one problem with it, a weld has failed on the deck where 2 parts meet. I've dropped that off to be ally welded, be ready before Friday. The rest of the painted parts are now with the blasters to remove all the "hammerite" Here's the bits ready to be loaded........
