meadowfield 1,900 #2 Posted March 6, 2015 based on the deck lever and trans it's an early C, model no is 1977 8hp kohler 4 speed. They were usually badge B-80. digger james has one!
the showman 4,074 #3 Posted March 6, 2015 Wonded if it was a 800, it's got C series wheels, the number dont come up on the toro site and it's not on my lists
meadowfield 1,900 #4 Posted March 6, 2015 it's kind of on my list - but I've made a few sets for these for customers including DJ, I recognise the number. It's a B-80, made in Oevel and probably a friday afternoon job... 1 diggerjames reacted to this

Triumph66 1,256 #13 Posted March 6, 2015 it seems that most of us blokes here are in for the high jump over the next couple of months when our hidden purchases are uncovered by our respective bosses! Oh heck! 2 nigel and neil reacted to this

the showman 4,074 #18 Posted March 20, 2015 Had a chance to unload this today and get it in the workshop on the bench, first job was to charge the battery and put some fuel in the tank, the wiring is all been butchered so had to hotwire it she spun over and fired up, no smoke and no rattle's, there seems to be an issue with the gearstick where as the stick is all floppy and have a job to get any gears,i'll have to investigate that next week 3 Triumph66, meadowfield and Ian reacted to this
Triumph66 1,256 #19 Posted March 20, 2015 At least you know the engine is ok. With your experience I am sure you will sort out the gear box.
Ian 2,417 #20 Posted March 21, 2015 That's good news on the engine Chris, I'm sure your soon have the trans problem sorted
the showman 4,074 #21 Posted March 21, 2015 Hav'nt had much chance today to look at it today only that I've removed the seat and rear fender. The gearstick retaining screw was hanging out which I removed and pulled out the stick, the selector is very hard to move so I drained the oil, as expected the first cupful was water so I've left it to drain overnight
the showman 4,074 #22 Posted March 23, 2015 Had another fiddle with the tranny today, sprayed a load of wd over the selector but it still wouldn't move. Had a rummage under the bench and found another 3 speed with the same problem that i had swapped on another tractor i had, Finally got the pulleys off after a struggle and split the box open, not as bad as I expected, ive got another container somewhere with some gears and selectors in so will have a clean up tomorrow and see what i can muster up. Stormin 4,458 #23 Posted March 23, 2015 Don't need any photo's of the inside of a trans. I know what it looks like. Remember? 1 diggerjames reacted to this

the showman 4,074 #25 Posted March 24, 2015 Pulled all the box apart this morning and its not good, just about all the bearings are shot and knowing the availability of them i think its a junker. Had a look through my stock and found another 3 speed that feels good apart from the attachment pin seized in, Ive had these before and the only way is to cut it off level with the box and drill it out, its to big to fit in the pillar drill so spent the rest of the day abuseing my hand held drill, it's 3/4 rod so the drill got pretty hot, anyway got it out.
