Alan 1,273 #76 Posted July 30, 2015 Today I finally collected the Bolens tiller and the FMC wheel weights from Alan in deepest Surrey a round trip of just over 400 miles. I met up with Chris, aka the Showman and John, the owner who was pleased that the tiller was off to a good home as he can't take it with him! Unfortunately I could only spare an hour and a half exploring the site and having a guided tour with Alan before rushing back to Devon. I only wished I had deeper pockets and the space to take more stuff back. The red Bolens was a beauty and it was good to see it in action transporting the tiller to my car. I was rather taken by the Cub Cadet there as well as Alan's Roper. The Morris Marinas were great to see but I did not have time to see the Ital van. The tiller and wheel weights are now under cover awaiting a through clean. My thanks to both Alan and Chris for thier warm welcome. It's pleasingto see Chris supporting and helping Alan (and John) out with the clearance of items and materials. Good to meet you Andrew. Another face matched to a name. Alan 1,273 #84 Posted August 1, 2015 Another load went today. We can see a LOT more of the barn floor now. Philip and brother in law Terry moved the two lathes out of the barn. The Raglan has now gone to a new home with a fly press press for company. I missed the Raglan being moved due to being busy elsewhere on site. The other lathe, make unknown, although it looks a bit like a Myford, is now in a more accessible spot. Rusty, but like the Raglan, various area's have cleaned up better than expected. Philip managed to start the International B450 hoping to reverse it out of the barn but found the clutch was stuck. Hardly surprising after about 40 years of rest. Phyliss 41 #87 Posted August 2, 2015 The International initially needs a pair of rear tubes & tyres along with possibly & rear axle seal. There appeared to be a few small water leaks having put water in but having sat for a long while it isn't to bad. The clutch might free up ok but time will tell. After i found only one injector pipe squirting i removed the plate from the side of the injector pump. This revealed 3 stuck plungers with one of them being stubborn to shift. After an hour all were free, injectors bled & after a bit of heat away it went. There was a panic initially as the throttle lever works the opposite way to my Major so as it started & revved i had to hold it on the stop till i worked out why. Paint wise i think it's had a fresh coat prior to John acquiring it. All good fun, thanks Alan for yours' & Johns help & photos. Alan 1,273 #88 Posted August 9, 2015 As our regular visitors will know, most of John's stash has now gone to new homes, with other various items reserved. The only good tractor left, apart from the red Bolens which is still in use, is a Cub Cadet 81 which wouldn't take much work to get running again. £150 if anyone interested. There are also four Westwoods in very poor condition which might supply a few spares. Other items uncovered are two Billy Goats with 3 and 5hp Briggs engines and a Villiers 20. All engines turn with fair compression. Can anyone identify this lathe, which looks a bit like a Myford. No name or markings anywhere. Rusty, but various area's have cleaned up OK. The last item, for now, is a small Zanetti motor / water pump. About 50cc. Turns freely. All the above are for sale. Who knows what else is still in hiding. Alan 1,273 #89 Posted August 12, 2015 Another item uncovered in the barn is this TAYLOR MULTIPLE DISC CLUTCH. The case is about 12" long, 24" over the pulleys. A heavy lump. Alan 1,273 #92 Posted August 13, 2015 My guess is, like Alain, that it was used with workshop equipment. Think this belonged to John's brother in law who lived on the premises before John. He was also a hoarder, but mainly of car, van, lorry stuff which he worked on as a hobby. The Showman, who else, arrived with Pam and Tracey, or was it Stacey mind gone blank, who between them dug out more junk, SORRY, I mean goodie's. Nothing RED this time though. Still LOTS of room in the sprinter when they left for home. Chris insists on stocking up with logs every visit. He hasn't noticed they are not red yet. John decided to have a drive too. Think he enjoyed it although his expression said otherwise. Philip and Chris Stoneman turned up later to move the International B450 to its new home, to meet up again with it's old cell mate, the Fordson. It followed clouds of smoke and fumes out of the barn, it's prison for the last 40 or so years. It had a bad limp, the result of a rear tire having more holes than air. It only took a few minutes to reverse up to the drive before loading onto Chris's trailer. The tire decided it didn't want to be left behind and stayed on the rim.
