the showman 4,074 #1 Posted October 4, 2018 While I was at Kingsfold last weekend this turned up. Its a 37 inch Wheelhorse snowblower, it's had all the rusty bits welded up and looks all there even comes with new bearings, seals, cable pulleys and chain. 6 WestwoodGazelle, slf-uk, Ian and 3 others reacted to this

the showman 4,074 #8 Posted October 16, 2018 Had a look at getting the first part assembled today. The bolts that hold the wheels on were the first thing to do, one missing and one snapped a little warm up with the gas torch and the bit came out I then ran a 3/8 tap through the hole and found a couple of bolts in stock from an old mower deck. I now have enough to get the Auger fitted and on wheels, might give it a coat of paint first. 5 Cub Cadet, Stormin, Alan and 2 others reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #9 Posted October 16, 2018 Got the auger and axle, wheel brackets and wheels clean and shiny today and applied a few coats of red primer. 4 Stormin, slf-uk, Alan and 1 other reacted to this

slf-uk 914 #13 Posted October 17, 2018 Great progress Chris. Some of those parts look very difficult to paint. Are you spraying them or brush? Iain

Iain I sprayed it with 2k but horrible thing to paint especially the auger. Some of the metal is pitted and it didn't seem worth spending lots of time pugging it up to stick it into snow drifts so I just wanted to protect it against the eliments more than anything. 1 slf-uk reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #15 Posted October 18, 2018 Had a look at the flag this morning ( that's the bit that fits to the lift arm ) I had to replace the pin as its a bit rusty. 2 slf-uk and Stormin reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #16 Posted October 19, 2018 Fitted the new bearings and cleaned out the axle tube, greased the axle shaft and put some oil in the tube just enough to coat the bear metal bits for protection then assembled it. The auger runs nice on new bearings. 4 Alan, Stormin, Cub Cadet and 1 other reacted to this

the showman 4,074 #18 Posted October 24, 2018 Next job is a rusty drive pulley, I've managed to find another but the centre needs changing. 2 Ian and Cub Cadet reacted to this
Ian 2,417 #19 Posted October 24, 2018 Your doing a great job there Chris, from a pile of rusty parts to someting far more red and shiny I snowblower has always been on my want list, but if the past 6 odd winters are anything to go by, I'm not sure Hawkhurst would get enough snow to need one! 1 the showman reacted to this
the showman 4,074 #20 Posted October 24, 2018 I managed to get an hour on the pulley before a member of the family wanted a bed moved, . First time I've used the Myford so quite pleased with what I've done. I put a 3/4 shaft through the old pulley to align it in the chuck and machined the hub off. I'm going to do the same with the new pulley to get the hub off then bolt and weld together. Comments welcome as I'm a bit of a muppet on the lathe and need education, 1 Cub Cadet reacted to this
Alan 1,273 #21 Posted October 24, 2018 Hi Chris. Found another pulley if any good. 5 inch with a 3/4 inch bore. 3/16" key way. Only 1/2" belt size though. Edit. Just seen your post. Looks like you might be sorted.

the showman 4,074 #25 Posted October 25, 2018 Got home earlier than expected so I've finished the pulley, The old hub is now welded on and the hub on the other side machined of on the lathe. Considering what I've done it runs quite true in the lathe so I'm pleased with that. 3 expeatfarmer, Alan and Stormin reacted to this
