expeatfarmer 591 #1 Posted May 9, 2020 Today the first three of my tractors departed for pastures new, I have sold my set of 4 MG40 and my Whitlock loader. Three of them left today so now I have a big space in my garage !!!! Quite a unique photo not seen a full set of MG 40 as a group before. 8 Cub Cadet, Alan, Triumph66 and 5 others reacted to this

Stormin 4,458 #3 Posted May 9, 2020 Bit of a shame really to see your collection split up. Hope they've gone to where they'll be appreciated and cared for.

Stormin 4,458 #5 Posted May 10, 2020 I had a feeling you'd bought them, Harry. Look after them. Pity I couldn't get up to help and see you again. 3 nigel, Triumph66 and harryt reacted to this
expeatfarmer 591 #6 Posted May 11, 2020 Thanks Norman you are welcome for a social distance coffee if you are passing. I was pleased to be able to extract the set for photos before they left, extracting the whitlock will be a tougher job. Good to see them in your garden Harry looks like plenty of playing space. 3 Triumph66, harryt and Stormin reacted to this

expeatfarmer 591 #10 Posted May 21, 2020 Part of the fun of collecting the crawlers was meeting new people with shared enthusiasm for these machines. Strangely, going through all my glory holes and pulling out all the machines and spares I have and then dealing with new enthusiasts looking for parts has been equal fun it is good to know that as a result of my bits many other machines will be up and running. It has also been really pleasing to see that many of the enthusiasts are youngsters late teens and early twenties as well as the older group. I still have piles of stuff to go through so if anyone is needing a particular part I am happy to have a look and see if I have one. 4 Cub Cadet, Stormin, nigel and 1 other reacted to this
expeatfarmer 591 #11 Posted May 29, 2020 Winch ITW has now gone, dumper is advertised lots of interest in other machines and most spares have now gone. I have virtually met lots of very nice people it is very pleasing to help so many machines to come back to life. 3 Stormin, Alan and harryt reacted to this
expeatfarmer 591 #12 Posted August 2, 2020 Another three gone today, two MG6 and the Jarrett MG5, Had a disaster with TVo MG6 spent the whole day yesterday serciceing and getting it started, ran for a couple of minutes and then big bang crankshaft snapped through one of the webs, conrod through the block piston smashed serious mess, fortunately I have enough spares to build up a replacement but never the less they are not leaving without a fight. Now down to 137, Digger, ITW Barge and two sand skimmers. 3 harryt, Stormin and Alan reacted to this

expeatfarmer 591 #15 Posted August 3, 2020 Managed to strip the blown engine today, crank snapped in two places, conrod amazingly bent, fortunately piston and barrels are unharmed I will salvage what parts I can for someone else. 1 Stormin reacted to this
Stormin 4,458 #16 Posted August 3, 2020 Made a proper job of that. I see bent rods before but nothing like that.
Aiberdonian 98 #17 Posted August 3, 2020 That is a con rod from a 10.8 HP Coventry Climax engine in a 1937 Triumph Gloria that my father bought in 1963. Hence the price of £5 for the whole car. It took out the side of the block, split the camshaft, burst the timing case and the nearside engine mounting.
Stormin 4,458 #18 Posted August 3, 2020 Nice looking cars. Got any photo's and info on your fathers car? Put in a new topic if you have.
Aiberdonian 98 #19 Posted August 4, 2020 You did tell me to do a write up on my Gloria resurrection in September last year and I have managed to get some photos together but I just haven't seemed able to get the time to do the write up. Once the nights get a bit darker and I have to walk the dog in the afternoon instead of evening I'll make an effort to start a topic on the subject. 1 Stormin reacted to this
