Stormin 4,458 #152 Posted March 19, 2015 Don't worry, Chris. I'll take some later. Now recommendations for paint for the cylinder block. Any suggestions any one? I've also to replace the track rods. The ones off the 121 are now on the 125, as it's were held together with cable ties. Going to make two sets with rose joints. You mentioned somewhere you made some, Chris. What size rose joints? Stormin 4,458 #154 Posted March 19, 2015 It'll be black Chris, and decals are in hand. Silver bits? Maybe control rods etc?
the showman 4,074 #155 Posted March 19, 2015 I see that you did the air fiter and pto fork and maybe the wire guard on the flywheel?
C-101plowerpower 548 #156 Posted March 19, 2015 Fitted fender and footplates yesterday. Also drained the engine and lifted off and onto bench. By 'eck it's heavy. Removed tinware, carb, pump and starter motor. Next is to clean it up and decided wether to do the valves or not. It has compression, but is easy to turn by hand. i believe these kohler's have acr, that's probably why you can turn it by hand
Anglo Traction 1,016 #157 Posted March 19, 2015 It'll be black Chris, and decals are in hand. Silver bits? Maybe control rods etc?Had money on you keeping it black Norm. Missed the decal situ, I've got spare black and chrome (custom) starter decals and black and silver Air filter, starter & 15 amp Alternator decals I would part with.I admire your restraint and not pull the head to check it out. I have to do them irrspectively. Like you,I need some warm weather. Keep up the good work on the Black 'orse.
Stormin 4,458 #158 Posted March 19, 2015 A few piccies for your titillation. As things are to date. Engine on my super duper, very expensive, mobile forklift bench thingy, ready for cleaning up.
the showman 4,074 #159 Posted March 19, 2015 Wow, that looks good Norm and so different, if you want anti-skid pads for the footplates go to a skateboard shop, they sell it in any length

Stormin 4,458 #162 Posted March 20, 2015 Get the decals right, Nigel? Just got the model right with Marks help. It's not an '80 C-120 after all. It's a '78 C-121. 2 meadowfield and nigel reacted to this
bowtiebutler956 166 #163 Posted March 20, 2015 Looking good Norm. Black paint is a royal pain in the rear, as it shows every imperfection. Every time I use black, I find myself having to use alot of high build primer. Prime it, sand it, over, and over again, until smooth. Anglo Traction 1,016 #164 Posted March 20, 2015 Get the decals right, Nigel? Just got the model right with Marks help. It's not an '80 C-120 after all. It's a '78 C-121. '80' C-120 !!!. That would have been unique, even for the Belgian factory. The C-120 Decals on yours (if original) were last (should have been)used on '77' models. So I can understand them (Belgium) putting surplus stock decals onto the '78' Models, but not '80'. They were C-125s (12hp) in 80. Never mind, glad you sorted it in time. ..............A rose by any other name will look as sweet !.
Stormin 4,458 #165 Posted March 20, 2015 This has a 12hp engine, Richard. Most likely a replacement engine. The serial number is not far off my '82 C-125.
Anglo Traction 1,016 #166 Posted March 20, 2015 This has a 12hp engine, Richard. Most likely a replacement engine. The serial number is not far off my '82 C-125. That's right Norm, C-120, C-121, C-125s were all 12hp. The Engine Spec numbers changed. 77 C-120s had a k301s (47421) with a Flat Oil Pan. 78 C-121s went over to the K301AS Cradle (47648) and 80-82 C-125s K301AS (47723- 47742). Never easy dating Tractors/Engines when they've been molested. Especially when they replace the Tins (Shroud) on an original Engine and not transfer the old numbers. Stormin 4,458 #167 Posted March 26, 2015 Had a bit of a change from painting today. The track rod ends on my C-125 were badly worn, so I fitted the ones off the C-121. Today I made some new ones to replace them. As you can see, they are the worn ones cut down and ends threaded to suit the rose joints. They'll be painted when steering is set. 1 Triumph66 reacted to this
