    Toy Land Rover series 2

Hi All, Not had much time for my other toys recently, not even tested the Wheel Horse charging system i was planning to do just after Christmas! Ive been busy building this: Toy Land Rover series 2 Ive spent most of the day driving round the garden in this awesome weather. Got to test these things you know Top speed of 6 miles per hour, which is actually ample in something like this round the garden It is a large garden Powered by this yeah right working model Haynes engine just for fun and show. Folding windscreen. Working front and rear lights and indicators. Plus a drop down tailgate. Speed controller from crawl to 6 mph, with high and low range. Its a squeeze for an adult, but easily takes 2 children up front. cheers, Daniel

    Wheelhorse Freebee

Had a phone call from a fellow member that there was a free Wheelhorse to a good home on Red-Square local to me. After a quick response I managed to speak to the owner, he didn't know what model it was only that the engine was up front. with the help of Mr Mackellow and his trailer we went to collect it. I was thrilled to bits to find a 1974 Raider 12, 8 speed with almost a new deck . Had a quick look after tea and it spins over, so a drop of fuel tomorrow and it should fire up,

Must be loosing my touch, took me just over an hour this morning to get her running, had a drive round the garden and tried out all the gears and cutter deck. I was a bit disappointed to find only one headlight works , or was the ole girl winking at me

    regent paraffin can

That can got me thinking. So I've had a dig in the back of the workshop and emerged with a W.D. square petrol can with brass cap, dated 1953. The can's dated not the cap.

Thought I would have a problem! It kept hunting today & did not want to respond well to ajustments So I took the jets etc out of the old carb body as they had done less work, cleaned them up & fitted them. Got more responce now. We will see how it runs when its under load with the deck, which is the next to sort

The days of black and white

Made me think that we've a photo in our family collection and here it is: From the early 1930s we think. My wife's mother, uncle and aunt all went to help harvest at the farm in Tetsworth, Oxfordshire when they were children, it was how they spent their summers. Not certain who's who in the photo but the horse was called 'Old Lil' Andy
