    O & R outboards

Just for comparison here are two outboards. The older one, red, has a two bladed prop and a smaller tank that will run about 30 minutes. The newer one has a three bladed prop. Haven't been able to get a continuous run on it. Both move a 15 ft canoe at about 5 mph

    Bolens Lawn Keeper

It happened again, I got first dibs on a mid 60s Bolens Lawn Keeper. This is the one that pivots in the middle. It looks to be solid but the seller recently scrapped the mowing deck (ouch!) which is frustrating to say the least. I need to find an original engine to replace the modern one installed or at least a more appropriate style one and to replace the seat as well. I would love to get a front mounted deck for it but that will be very hard to source. The good news is that it's up and running. It's local to me ( for once!) and as usual I will post some photos of it when I get it back home. These are rare in the US and are even rarer in the UK and I felt it needed saving.

    Engine sizes

I have now accumulated enough engines to mix and match for the outboard and chain saw. I have also got a mixed bag of different parts. Does anyone know how to identify the different motors? a search online came up with this. a "Compact 1" engine, 1.25 x 1.032, 1.26 CID, 20.648 CC, rated at 3/4hp a "Compact 2" motor 1.25 x 1.096 1.34 CID, 21.959 CC (call it 22 cc) rated at .85 hp a "Compact 2" also rated at 1 hp but no change in CID. So how do I identify the different motors and is that last one for real? The only way I know to up the HP on an engine w/o increasing the displacement is to increase the RPM or torque which involves the governor and the carburetor. How do I know the difference? The outboard motor moves my canoe at 5 mph and that is fine. But the chainsaw will always need more power so how to get it? ....and a picture just for fun.

    Project "Why Not"

Hi Iain, the hammer is only there as I've not found a home for it yet Spot on with your bracket guesswork, yes the axle will be bolted to the chassis through the brackets. The axle needs to come off so I can split it and put the diff back in Hi Chris, don't worry the tyres will be replaced by new ones before any daft speeds are reached.. The old tyres could be handy for doing some burn-outs though I'm not sure about slicks (until it goes up the strip of course) but a wheelie bar might be handy Well chaps, no going back now
