    Bolens Sheet Metal Screws

albanycountyfasteners.com has the sheet metal screws for Bolens tube frame tractors, the later models with the two lower side covers take 25 screws in total for the side panels, dash tower, fender pan, etc. Really hard to find real truss head screws any longer, I've been looking for these for a while. Stainless steel to boot and under 10.00 US with free shipping on eBay

    Project "Why Not"

Evening chaps, yesterday I got WN's clutch pedal sorted... Up.. Down.... Now you may of noticed when the pedal is in the down position the pull on the cable isn't ideal, but this was soon sorted when I found a matching pair of pedals in a box under the bench! Of course I had to use a matching pair of pedals, so the newly found clutch pedal had a little trim, and extra hole drilled for the cable to attach to, and fitted. The clutch has a nice feel to it. a bit of travel and not too sharp.. I need to fit a stopper to stop the pedal from falling back which is why it's held up with a spanner As for the brake pedal, here it is almost in place. I need to trim about 3/4 inch off the inside to get it a little closer to the engine to make enough space for the throttle pedal. Sorry about the finger in the photo but here you can (just) see the matching pair of bike master cylinders. They came from 1000cc bikes (no idea which bikes, it was a long time ago) and should be more than up to the job. As you will of guessed one is for the front brakes and one for the rear.. The front's being bike calipers will be easy to plumb in... As for the rears, I have worked out a way of linking car and bike brake lines together that does not involve jubilee clips , but more on that when I get there. Yesterday Nigel was looking for something to do, so I gave him one of the rocker covers to strip of paint and give a very quick polish.. Very good it looks too Unable to stop himself at this point one of the exhausts was pulled off to have the ally clamp polished and a coat of high temperature paint.. Which lead to the question of what colour the engine should be painted.. Not having any gloss black between us part of the engine was quickly masked up and hit with more of the high temp paint.. Now it has dried to a matt finish it doesn't look that good, but while it was wet it looked great. So the engine will be going gloss black with a few select ally parts polished up Right side... Left side

    Can anyone identify this mower?

I believe that number is just a stocking number, it could also indicate the type, as I think this number correlates to a vertical shaft engine type used on both twins and singles with vertical shafts EDIT: It looks like he number correlates to the engine type to identify the crankshaft used in the particular engine. Not all that up on Briggs engines, but Kohler used between 70 ad 100 different crankshafts in the 14hp Kohler k321

    Can anyone identify this mower?

This number is on the crankcase of the engine, could it be a date, I haven't seen a number like this on a Briggs engine before.

Alain, don't start that again! I see my softly sofly approach have not worked..... It is amazing what these metal detectors guys keep unearthing. A guy recently bought a detector and on his first outing discovered a treasure trove I think of Roman coins. Fortunately he was an honest guy and declared it.

Thanks Andrew, but my I'm still first on the list for the old Bolens find, lol. I really hope that find surfaces, because it will be a treasure trove to you guys. It seems every time I open Yahoo news I'm hearing about one of you blokes over their finding some sort of treasure, or coin. Do you all own metal detectors or are they permanently attached to your arms, lol

    Ransom dozer/digger.

Today I discovered our main house drain was blocked, out came the digger dozer with a vengeance, I dug a trench 4ft deep and 14m long through heavy clay soil in less than an hour, that's good enough for me!

The Story of the Medway Queen

The people of Britain, soldiers and civilians alike, mounted one of the greatest efforts against one of the most overwhelming foes in history. They are all hero's. Americans have never known what it is like to be under siege, it might do them good to realize much of their petty bickering is childish. They do not know what real problems are. I wish they taught more history in schools, the actions of the RAF were nothing short of miraculous.
